SuperMansion S:01 E:02

Episode Title: They Shoot Omega Pets, Don’t They?
Original Airdate: 10-8-15

I wouldn’t say this show is out to teach us a lesson like most animated shows, but that doesn’t mean you can’t learn something from it. This episode could teach you to keep in contact with the people who are important to you because time passes quickly. Or you could learn about the difficulties that can accompany pet ownership. This episode contains many references to movies starting with the title and hitting movies of all kinds like: Aliens, Gremlins, Seabiscuit, Ratatouille, and Babe. This episode is full of fun and nostalgic references, and continues the high quality of the pilot episode.

SuperMansion S01 Ep01

Episode Title: Groaner’s Wild
Original Airdate: 10-8-15

Crackle’s first animated stop motion show premiered October 8th with its first three episodes. It then will become weekly for 10 weeks ending December 17th. This is not a show for the easily offended among us. It will make jokes about race, gender, age, weight and religion and do them very well. After watching the first episode I couldn’t wait to see more, the jokes came quickly and nonstop which lends itself to repeat viewing. In a world of superhero teams and their origins, Supermansion instead follows a well-established team and its senior citizen leader Titanium Rex (Bryan Cranston).

Episode Title: The Good Man
Original Airdate: 10-4-15

Travis, Madison and Daniel begin packing the essentials to head out to the desert like they initially planned, but not before stopping at the military compound to get their family members. In order to get in, they lead a horde of Walkers to the compound’s front gates (presumably from the stadium where the government locked thousands of innocent people in with the infected that Ofelia’s soldier boyfriend mentioned). Nick somehow managed to get a key to the gate where he and the mysterious stranger, Strand (best character so far), were being held, and escape as all hell breaks loose at the compound. Just as the two are about to become Walker snacks trapped against locked doors, with Madison watching through the window on the other side, Liza saves the day with her government issued key card.

31 Days of Tales From the Crypt S:01 E:01

Good evening ghosts and goblins, welcome once again to another day in our 31 Days of Tales From the Crypt, day 5 to be exact. Where I, your Cryptkeeper Bubbawheat am here to introduce today’s guest blogger who will be taking a look at the very first episode in this series that just so happens to star frequent Tales From the Crypt actor William Sadler who played in two episodes of the show, was a main character in the first movie, and had a small role in the second. As for our host today, he goes by the name Spikor who you may or may not recognize as one of the villains from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. This Spikor writes over at Fat Guy With Glasses where he dispenses his wisdom on books, movies, TV, and of course, action figures. But today he’s here talking about another episode of Tales From the Crypt!

31 Days of Tales From the Crypt S:01 E:05

Welcome to day 4 of the 31 Days of Tales From the Crypt. I’m the host of this blogathon, Bubbawheat and I’m here to introduce this day’s episode brought to you by our own the IPC. While IPC has been away for a bit, I’m sure he will be back with his buddy Scoots to finish talking about the The Six Million Dollar Man, but meanwhile you can also visit his own site Isaacs Picture Conclusions where you can find more of his humor and the occasional (who am I kidding, the frequent) NSFW pics somehow related to horror movies. And if that wasn’t all, he’s also working on a film called Raising Hell. So without further ado, here’s his take on unfortunately one of the lesser quality episodes from the first season which he picked completely by random. Enjoy!

Heroes Reborn S:01 E:03

Episode Title: Under the Mask
Original Airdate: 10-1-15

It’s time to take another look into the return to Tim Kring’s Heroes universe that combines the old cast in with a new generation of heroes. As far as the ratings on the show goes, it’s tough to say whether or not it’s doing what they expected, it’s doing significantly better than Constantine did last season, but it’s doing a bit better than the last season of Heroes did, especially when you add in one of the largest time-shifted viewership for any network shows this year. I’m still very much into the mystery aspect of the show that leaves many unanswered questions alongside all of the interconnected characters and new powers.

Webseries: Vixen S:01 E:06 & Season:01

Episode Title: Episode 6
Original Airdate: 9-29-15

As I suspected (though I could have easily just Googled it to find out as well), this was the last episode of this webseries to wrap things up before the CW shows proper start their new fall season next week, this finally rounds out Mari’s origin story to end with her being a fully fledged Vixen, in costume, in Detroit. As this is a very short webseries, I’ll also share my thoughts on the “season” as a whole right after I take a look at the episode. And as usual, since CW Seed doesn’t have any embedding feature, you will have to click the link to watch it on their site, or you can watch it if you have the CW Seed app.

Episode Title: Cobalt

Everyone is angry. They want their family members back, but aren’t given any information by the soldiers. In an attempt to find out where his wife is, Daniel kidnaps and tortures Ofelia’s soldier boyfriend Andrew. During the torture, Andrew tells of the military’s plans to evacuate the safe zones, but only themselves and not the survivors. The operation also includes the termination of all survivors.

Heroes Reborn S:01 E:01 & 02

Episode Title: Brave New World & Odessa
Original Airdate: 9-24-15

The Heroes have been reborn, both as a new generation of Heroes but also as a new series on NBC. I think it’s interesting that in several places this is considered a “mini-series” at 13 episodes, which is the same as a full season for cable shows and for any show that starts out in the mid-season without the added nomenclature. For my own part, I watched the first two seasons of Heroes when they aired, or at least the first season and a half, and came back to watch the final half of the fourth season which I did enjoy. And I have gone back to re-watch the first season again, and while I didn’t actually make it very far into the season, what I did manage to watch helped refresh some of the early moments of the show and revealed a similar structure to the great first season. This new season introduced a lot of new heroes and saved many of the returning faces for later in the series.

Webseries: Heroes Reborn: Dark Matters

Heroes Reborn: Dark Matters Season 1
Original Airdate: 8-10-15

I’m a little bit behind on this, but before the premier of Heroes Reborn I wanted to talk a little bit about this webseries that intends to bridge the gap between the original run of Heroes and the new series. I did watch it a couple weeks back but hadn’t gotten around to writing about it until now. The series mainly focuses on a single character Phoebe and her journey of exploring her powers before getting caught up in some of the conspiracy that will likely be explored in more detail in the series proper. I did enjoy it, especially since it does take a look at a couple more normal characters, and when I say normal I mean that they aren’t movie star level attractive, the actors in the two main roles are much more like average people. It’s just that one of them happens to be able to control light and shadow. This was a six episode webseries and while it has been uploaded on YouTube, I will just be embedding the first episode in this review, the rest can be watched on YouTube or on NBC.com.
