Buffy The Vampire Slayer S:06 Ep:22

“Thanks a lot for coming. It was good of you to teleport all this way. Though, in retrospect, it probably would have been better if you hadn’t come and given Willow all that magic that made her, like, ten times more powerful. That would have been a plus.” – Anya

So here we are finally at the end of season 6 which has been a problematic trudge to say the least from the notable lack of big evil and one off gimmick episodes like Xander and Anya’s wedding and the much beloved “Once More With Feeling” its really been the beginning of the end for the show even as Buffy prepares for one final showdown with Dark Willow.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer S:05 Ep:22

“Everyone knows their jobs. Remember, the ritual starts; we all die. And I’ll kill anyone who comes near Dawn.” – Buffy

So here we are at the end of another season and its one which had originally been designed to end the series only to instead end up serving as a finale for the show’s time on the WB Network before it moved over to the rival UPN for the final two seasons. Still as the finale’s go this is a great one especially as having wasted the previous episode either running around on pointless research missions are hanging around in Buffy’s sub-concious finally we get back on track here with Buffy and the Scoobies preparing for war against Glory before she can sacrifice Dawn and bring about the apocalypse.

Episode Title: Restless

Original Air Date: May 23, 2000

“It’s a shame that I never got to tell you how happy I am that you were eaten by a giant snake.” – Xander

So while last week should have in a normal world been the finale to this forth season as we saw Adam vanquished but strangely this episode was the one which they choose to end the season on and in doing so causing the show to fall into the same trap as “The Walking Dead” were the season ends one later than it should have.

Season 2 ended with back-to-back episodes, and they did not disappoint. At the Colonia, Nick sneaks off to meet the Narcos, knowing they’ve discovered the compound’s location. He tries to reason with them, but they give him until the next morning to clear out the Colonia before they show up and kill anyone who’s left. While trying to convince Alejandro of the danger coming, Nick is attacked by a newly Infected patient of the infirmary. Alejandro is bitten in the process, and he must finally confess that he is not immune to an Infected’s bite. An angry Luciana takes charge and decides the Colonia’s faith has protected them this long and will continue to do so.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer S:03 Ep: 21 + 22

Episode Title: Graduation Day Parts 1 & 2

Original Air Date: May 18, 1999 / July 13 1999

“Tea is soothing. I wish to be tense.” – Giles

So here we are at the end of another season and what a weird one it’s been seeing how our big evil in “The Mayor” has been happy to be the evil lurking in the background, coming out of his office occasionally to shake his fist at Buffy and the Scoobies so like their namesake you half expect him to complain that he would have gotten away with it, had it not been for you darn “Pesky kids”.
At the same time this season has really about Faith and her corruption to the dark side as she went rouge and teamed up with the mayor. Their father / daughter relationship really being confirmed here as in the first half of this two part finale she is tasked with poisoning Angel which invariantly puts her on Buffy’s hit list for more than one reason as it soon becomes clear the only cure is Angel drinking the blood of a slayer. Needless to say Buffy wastes little time here in her plan to feed Faith to Angel and giving us the long promised Slayer Versus Slayer showdown.

iZombie S2

Episode Title: Salivation Army
Original Airdate: 4-12-16

Even though they aired Eps. 18 and 19 back-to-back last week, I had to split the reviews up to give them each enough attention. I had planned on posting this last week, but never got around to finishing it, so here it is a week later.

Stacy Boss sends his goons to take out Don E. and Chief when he realizes Blaine’s Utopium is still being sold. Chief dies, but Don E. convinces the hitmen that Blaine is still alive, just as he walks through the door. Blaine escapes, but Don E. tells Boss’s goons that Blaine was sleeping with Peyton, while ratting out Boss. Don E. is shot in the chest, but now that he’s a zombie, he lives. Blaine shows up at Peyton and Liv’s, infuriating Ravi. Blaine leaves again to get some dinner, but while he’s gone the goons show up and kidnap Peyton, hoping that it will prompt Blaine to turn himself in. When Blaine returns, he and Ravi (who’s just gotten back together with Peyton) go to Boss’s office. As Ravi waits in the car, Blaine takes out all of Boss’s men and saves Peyton, who is extremely scared and grateful, much to Ravi’s chagrin.

Episode Title: Last Day on Earth
Original Airdate 4-3-16

I’m just going to get this out in the open right out of the gate: that wasn’t a cliffhanger, it was a dick move.

So the “90-minute” finale (with enough commercial breaks to rival the Super Bowl), was split into two plot lines. One was Morgan, on horseback, looking for Carol. He finds her in pretty bad shape and tries to convince her she needs to come back to Alexandria for stitches and healing. She refuses, gives him the slip and ends up on the wrong side of a gun held by the one Savior she failed to kill on the road in the last episode. He shoots her in the arm and leg, and walks away, but she taunts him into coming back to finish the job. As he’s about to pull the trigger, Morgan shows up and gives the man a chance to back away, but eventually nixes his “all life is precious” mantra and kills the Savior to save Carol.

31 Days of Tales From the Crypt S:06 E:15

Cryptkeeper Bubbawheat back again with another mind numbing tale of terror from Tales From the Crypt this month of October. Today’s terror-ific writer is Austin Shinn, you may find him over at his Film podcast The Film Room and spin-off blog The Film Room Lobby or you can also find him blogging about things a little more personal like dealing with being Autistic at A Flickering Life. But today, on the 12th day of our little blogathon here, he is talking about the episode You, Murderer best known for being one of their special effects testing grounds in a way where the main character has the likeness of one Humphrey Bogart.

Episode Title: The Good Man
Original Airdate: 10-4-15

Travis, Madison and Daniel begin packing the essentials to head out to the desert like they initially planned, but not before stopping at the military compound to get their family members. In order to get in, they lead a horde of Walkers to the compound’s front gates (presumably from the stadium where the government locked thousands of innocent people in with the infected that Ofelia’s soldier boyfriend mentioned). Nick somehow managed to get a key to the gate where he and the mysterious stranger, Strand (best character so far), were being held, and escape as all hell breaks loose at the compound. Just as the two are about to become Walker snacks trapped against locked doors, with Madison watching through the window on the other side, Liza saves the day with her government issued key card.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer S:01 Ep: 12

Episode title: Prophecy Girl

Original air date: June 2, 1997

“I may be dead, but I’m still pretty – which is more than I can say for you.” – Buffy

So here we are at the end of season one after what only seems like a few weeks, with the original half season order this show was given when it originally commissioned as a late season replacement. This would of course be corrected with the following seasons which would all receive full 22 episode seasons. Perhaps because of the shortness of this season, this episode doesn’t have the feeling of a season finale as Buffy this week prepares to face the Master in a fight which she had been prophesised to die in.
