The Flash S:01 E:23

Episode Title: Fast Enough
Original Airdate: 5-19-15

From the very first moment of the pilot episode of the Flash, we knew that it was going to lead up to this moment. The moment where Barry makes the decision to go back in time to save the life of his mother and change the entire world for better or for worse. But what’s almost more important than that is the lead up to that decision. It’s full of emotional moments with everyone important in Barry’s life in one way or another. And not everyone is giving him the same advice. Not only that, but what happened here in this episode will have a pretty big impact on where this show goes forward in season two.

iZombie S:01 E:10

Episode Title: Mr. Berserk
Original Airdate: 5-19-15

Last week had a bit of a shocker ending and this week has to clean up afterwards with Liv jumping for the brain of a raging alcoholic to dull the pain of her loss. Besides that angle, there’s some major headway into the company behind the energy drink Max Rager as we miraculously meet the head of the company played by Steven Weber. This brings about my favorite pun I saw on Twitter: Max Rager gives you Wings, and I hope more people than just me get that joke or else I will feel incredibly old. We also have Liv and Ravi battling with the decision to clue Major into the fact that zombies are running rampant throughout the city or else he will check himself into a psych ward. Lots of great writing going on this week as it helps that the brain of the week is directly tied into the ongoing story line.

Tiger and Bunny: Introduction

I first found out about Tiger and Bunny through my site last year when I discovered the spin-off movie Tiger and Bunny: The Beginning which essentially just rehashed the first couple episodes of the series or so and added in a new third act. This year I watched the second spin-off film from the single season series called the Rising which followed after the end of the show and made me want to watch the whole series even more. The world of Tiger and Bunny is fascinating to me, it’s set in a world similar to the X-Men, but instead of being persecuted for being different, the mutants, or NEXTs as they’re called in this series, are celebrated as celebrities and heroes. There’s even a popular television station dedicated to their coverage in a season long reality style competition with points for capturing criminals, saving civilians, and other various heroics.

Batman: The Brave and the Bold S:01 E:16

Episode Title: “Night of the Huntress!”

Original Air Date: May 8, 2009

Last week we were “treated” to a Sherlock Holmes story, this week we are taken on a brief foray into Camp. Camp has been a solid part of the Batman mythos ever since Adam West donned the cowl in 1966, this week we get to see what kind of camp The Brave and the Bold’s Batman can serve up (one would hope with a side of cheese)

The episode opens with a flashback to Shane trying to rescue a comatose Rick from the hospital as the military begins executing both Walkers and humans in the hallways. Unable to save his friend, Shane leaves, but not before securing Rick’s door, so no one or no thing can enter. Cut to the present, and the group is allowed into the CDC by the only remaining scientist, Jenner. They shower, eat, get drunk and sleep without any worry, except for Lori who was almost raped by Shane in the rec room.

Daredevil S:01 E:06

A tense hostage situation. A city-wide disaster zone. The situation has escalated from a series of single strikes against thugs into an all out war. But in a show that’s concerned with depicting events in a reasonable and realistic manner, is Daredevil going too far over the top at this point?

The Flash S:01 E:22

Episode Title: Rogue Air
Original Airdate: 5-12-15

As the show teases its way towards the climactic encounter between Eobord Thawne and Barry Allen it takes one final moment to inject a little bit of chaos into the mix as Barry and the team have to figure out a way to transport the five meta-humans contained in their particle accelerator slash prison before it comes back online and kills them all. It brings a whole different level of conflict than we would usually see in these types of shows and brings together a couple friends for a pretty epic fight to bring things to a close.

iZombie S:01 E:09

Episode Title: Patriot Brains
Original Airdate: 5-12-15

This week Liv gets a hold of some military grade brains and decides that it’s time to go after Blaine once and for all, Ravi chronicles the data of his time post-zombie-rat-bite, we get the guest appearance of a Veronica Mars alum, and somebody dies at the end! Overall a very important episode in terms of the ongoing storylines and the case of the week was actually also pretty interesting and kept me guessing throughout.

Gotham Season:01

It feels like it’s been an exhausting first season for Gotham. It’s had its ups and downs for sure and from moment to moments I’m still not entirely sure where I fall on the season as a whole. It’s not Batman, but it throws in Batman references in spades. It’s not a police procedural, but there’s plenty of one-off cases for Bullock and Gordon to solve. It’s not a crime drama, but there’s intricate gang politics between four sub-factions plus the police. It’s dark and gritty, but there’s plenty of characters that are so over the top that it becomes full on camp. One episode has me thinking… well you get the picture. It has some great actors pulling out some great performances, and tosses in some gorgeous visuals, but if the show continues on this path I don’t see it continuing into a season three.

Walking Dead S1

Episode Title: Wildfire
Original Airdate: 11-28-10

In the aftermath of the Walker attack on the camp, the survivors must decide what to do next. Andrea watches over Amy’s dead body all night and into the day, much to the chagrin of the others who know it’s just a matter of time before she reanimates. Once she does, Andrea does muster up the courage to put her back down once and for all. Meanwhile, Jackie discovers Jim was bitten in the attack. Daryl wants him dead immediately, and attempts to do the job himself, but the others stop him. Rick and Shane are at odds over several points. Shane thinks they wouldn’t have lost as many in the attack if Rick hadn’t left to find Merle; Rick thinks more would’ve died if he hadn’t come back with a lot of guns. At one point during a sweep in the woods, Shane momentarily has his gun aimed at Rick’s back, but refrains from pulling the trigger.
