The Six Million Dollar Man S1:11

Episode: Burning Bright
Original Airdate: 04/12/1974

Happy Sunday! EI and Scoot from  Damian Thomas Films Etc . are back and ready to control your brain using nothing but our heightened mental abilities! How did we gain these powers, you ask? It was simple, NASA shot us into space and during a routing spacewalk we absorbed the power of the sun and now we’re burning bright like a light bulb! or are we? Let’s see…

Daredevil S:01 E:05

So the title for this one, “World on Fire,” refers to three seconds of a terrible CG effect depicting “What Daredevil ‘sees’.” Kinda like the bad CG overlays from the Ben Affleck movie. If you don’t mind, I’d like to propose a different motif for this episode… night and day. Two halves of Daredevil’s life, two concurrently running plots, and one specific problem with the show.

Episode Title: Grodd Lives
Original Airdate: 5-5-15

It’s time for the a bit of a breather before next week ramps up to the season finale big superhero team up slash backdoor pilot for the officially-picked-up Legends of Tomorrow. Here we finally get a decent look at one of the most ridiculous sounding villains from the DC Universe: a massive gorilla with the ability to control people’s minds named Grodd. He also apparently knows martial arts, at least enough to casually deflect and redirect a supersonic punch. And there’s also a bit of the aftermath of Iris figuring out Barry’s secret and Eddie trying to get Eobord to start monologuing.

Powers Season:01

Now that the entire first season of Powers is in the can, let’s step back a bit and take a broader look at the show. I started out hopeful and ended up drinking heavily while hating my continued existence, so obviously I’m going to draw a negative conclusion here (spoiler warning, I guess?) but it’s worth taking a look at WHY the show fell apart. With any luck, Sony will fix it up for season two. Because there is going to be a season two, apparently. Setting fire to a briefcase of unmarked bills would be a better use of the money, but there you go.

Episode Title: All Happy Families Are Alike
Original Airdate: 5-4-15

We finally made it to the end of the first season of Gotham, and boy has it been a doozy. For all of its flaws and questionable choices, it is always entertaining and this week is no different. We have the return of Fish Mooney, the creation and practically the resolution of a city wide gang war which makes the city turn into Gotham: Beyond Thunderdome for some reason. There is plenty here to talk about, and not all of it is good. There were a few surprises including one death that I don’t think anyone anticipated, and another death that we all knew was coming, but enough hemming and hawing, it’s time to get right down to it.

Walking Dead S1

Episode Title: Vatos
Original Airdate: 11-21-10

The episode opens with sisters Andrea and Amy fishing near the survivors’ camp, discussing different techniques their father taught them, then bringing a massive pile of fish back for everyone to eat. Meanwhile Dale spots Jim, who’s barely been present in the previous episodes, obsessively digging holes. Shane confronts Jim, restraining him, as Jim tells the terrible tale of how he lost his family to the Walkers. After being tied to a tree for the afternoon, Jim starts to feel better, his sunstroke having passed.

Daredevil S:01 E:04

Didn’t you hear? The Cold War’s back in style. If you need a burly, manly, sadistic badass the first place to turn to is the great frozen state of Russia. Today, the two obligatory unhinged gangsters from the east are the focus of many beatings, and learn firsthand the durability of a good American-made SUV!

Webseries: Bad Days S:01 E:07

Episode Title: Thor
Original Airdate: 11-19-12

Welcome to another Webseries Spotlight where you don’t just have to read about the shows we cover here, but you can actually watch them. This time around I’m featuring an animated webseries from Klomp Animation based out of the Netherlands about superheroes having a bad day, appropriately called Bad Days. We will be sharing an episode, a part of our conversation with lead animator and co-founder Junaid Chundrigar, and/or some behind the scenes pictures each week every Thursday. But if you can’t wait, feel free to check out the rest of the webseries at Stan Lee’s World of Heroes and CineFix. This week, totally not specifically to piggyback on Ultron’s release is one of the members of the Avengers, the one with the big hammer.

Episode Title: The Trap
Original Airdate: 4-28-15

We finally get our full villain reveal at the end of this episode to head into the last two episodes of the season along with plenty of other reveals for all sorts of cast members. This episode had a strong build up to the climax along with plenty of great character moments and humor along the way. This show just keeps getting better and better all the time and it’s one reason why Wednesday is my favorite day of the week for television (being a day behind to watch streaming). After proving time and time again that Iris is the worst reporter ever, she finally starts to make a little bit of headway towards not being completely oblivious to everything around her, and Dr. Wells finally gets to the chance to go full villain, and explain why he always seems to pop up at the right (or wrong) moments.
