Powers S:01 E:01

Hello, folks! Stefan Gagne here, contributing to Channel Superhero; in my spare time (hah! who has spare time?!) I write serialized novels, so reviewing serialized television content seems right up my alley.

Episode Title: Pilot
Original Airdate: 3-10-2015

Welcome to the world of Powers, where superheroes clash with supervillains somewhere in the background as we focus in on the lives of ordinary folks caught up in the power-obsessed culture that has spawned around them. Instead of directly examining particular caped crusaders, the series builds an intriguing world of celebrity culture and fanatical fandom which destroys as much as it inspires…

The Walking Dead S:05 E:13

The Walking Dead

Episode Title: Forget
Original Airdate: 3-8-15

Just when I thought we’d be taken down the dark alleys of Alexandria, instead we glimpsed the true darkness of our beloved group. As everyone tries to acclimate to life in their newest settlement, Rick, Daryl and Carol decide to get their guns back, “just in case,” and a party thrown by the town leader is the perfect distraction to do so. Deanna outlines her plans (hopes, more like) for Alexandria to Rick, Michonne and Maggie, which include government and industrialization someday. Daryl goes hunting with Aaron, and as the two get to know each other better, Daryl actually decides to try to make a life in the new town. At the party, Rick decides to get a little too friendly with the married Jessie, after, you know, two days in Alexandria, while Carol becomes every kid’s, and parent’s, worst nightmare.

Batman Beyond S:01 Ep:07

Episode title: Shriek

Original air date: March 14, 1999

After the hiccup which was the previous episode “Heroes” it’s good to see with this episode the writers get the show back on track while at the same introducing another villain to the “Batman Beyond” rogue’s gallery, which at this point has honestly been kind of lacking what with Blight barely getting a chance to strut his stuff as Powers instead chooses to play puppet master in the various schemes he runs, with Inque being the only real noteworthy edition until this point as this episode gives us the first appearance of Shriek.

Batman: The Brave and the Bold S01 E06

Episode Title: Enter the Outsiders!

Original Airdate: January 9, 2009

Batman has been in the pages of DC comics from the earliest days of the golden age to the present, and had a key role in every phase including the flood of new characters in the early 80’s created to capture the Superfriends crowd. This episode finds an intriguing way to combine one of the golden oldies with a group of teens from the far out 80’s phase, and seems perfectly in place in the first decade of our current millennium.  Continue reading Batman: The Brave and the Bold S01 E06

Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends S:1 E:6

Episode Title: Seven Little Superheroes

Greetings once again, true believers! This week’s episode of Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends is about to give you more heroes than you can handle. We have not one, not two, not even a mere three superheroes. Get ready for Seven Little Superheroes.

Spidey 6-1
This time, a mysterious supervillain known as The Chameleon is on the loose. This villain can change his appearance to perfectly copy anyone and he has plans to make life difficult for Spidey, Iceman and Firestar. But that’s not enough for him. He also has his eye set on four other heroes, both famous and obscure: The Submariner, Doctor Strange, Shanna the Jungle Queen, and none other than Captain America himself. Each of the heroes gets a strange letter summoning them to Wolf Island Mansion for a “most unusual get together.” There’s one problem, though. Since Aunt May is visiting a friend with cats for the weekend, the Spider Friends have no choice but to bring the dog, Miss Lion, along for the trip. Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. S:02 E:11

Episode Title: Aftershocks
Original Airdate: 3-3-15

After a long mid season break, Marvel’s ‘Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ returns to continue the amazing plot set up in its earlier episodes of Season 2. Last time we saw Agent Coulson and the team, Skye had just been exposed to what is known as Terrigan Mist in the alien city, along with Raina, which also caused the death of Trip. This episode is a somber one that deals with the aftermath of the change in status quo for the show, while dealing with how the death of a team member affects everyone differently.

Agent Carter Season 01

Marvel's 'Agent Carter' starring Hayley Atwell & James D'Arcy

Ah parting is such sweet disappointment. Or sorrow, not sure which, but disappointment is definitely what I’m going with for the Season Finale of this Marvel ‘tie-in’ show that aired between, and acted as a filler during, the mid season break of Marvel’s ‘Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ The Season– or rather Series finale, given that the show was only 8 episodes long with no word of being renewed or having plans for a second season, ended on a note that was quite a letdown. More than that, looking back at the series as a whole, provides a new perspective on a show that seemed like it was going to be something great, but ended up being quite pedestrian. Before continuing with my Season wrap-up of ‘Agent Carter’, feel free to take a look at my thoughts and expectations from the series before it aired over here.
