The Walking Dead S:01 E:05

Walking Dead S1

Episode Title: Wildfire
Original Airdate: 11-28-10

In the aftermath of the Walker attack on the camp, the survivors must decide what to do next. Andrea watches over Amy’s dead body all night and into the day, much to the chagrin of the others who know it’s just a matter of time before she reanimates. Once she does, Andrea does muster up the courage to put her back down once and for all. Meanwhile, Jackie discovers Jim was bitten in the attack. Daryl wants him dead immediately, and attempts to do the job himself, but the others stop him. Rick and Shane are at odds over several points. Shane thinks they wouldn’t have lost as many in the attack if Rick hadn’t left to find Merle; Rick thinks more would’ve died if he hadn’t come back with a lot of guns. At one point during a sweep in the woods, Shane momentarily has his gun aimed at Rick’s back, but refrains from pulling the trigger.

Batman Beyond S:02 Ep:02

Episode title: Earth Mover

Original air date: September 25, 1999

If you cast your mind back to my coverage of the first season (or failing that just hit the archive section) you will remember that I noted that in the character of “Inque” the series has essentially reworked the classic villain “Clayface” to fit into this new world and now a mere 15 episodes into the show and they essentially rework him again with this episode as we are introduced to the one shot villain “Earthmover”. Yes this might seem like some very lazy writing, but stick with us here as this episode more than manages to stand on its own merits.

The Six Million Dollar Man S1:11

Episode: Burning Bright
Original Airdate: 04/12/1974

Happy Sunday! EI and Scoot from  Damian Thomas Films Etc . are back and ready to control your brain using nothing but our heightened mental abilities! How did we gain these powers, you ask? It was simple, NASA shot us into space and during a routing spacewalk we absorbed the power of the sun and now we’re burning bright like a light bulb! or are we? Let’s see…

Batman: The Brave and the Bold S01 E15

Episode Title: “Trials of the Demon!”

Original Air Date: March 20, 2009

So I guess they’ve explored most every other type of story already in the first season of the show, so naturally the next step is a Sherlock Holmes story. I’ve got to admit that I didn’t see that coming, but I am a fan of Holmes, so maybe I’ll like this story. Then again, maybe I won’t.

Upfronts: What’s Cancelled, Renewed, & Picked Up

I don’t do too much news here on the site for a few different reasons. One is that news is such a fast paced thing that one minute it’s news and the next minute it’s old hat. There’s plenty of other sites out there that have the ability to cover news as its happening in enough detail to get the whole story. For my part, I share as much news as possible (from official sources) on our Twitter feed. But this week there has been a whole lot of news about next year’s shows. Plenty of shows have been renewed and a few have been picked up and I thought I’d take a bit more of a look at the fate of all the shows we cover and will cover right here.

Daredevil S:01 E:05

So the title for this one, “World on Fire,” refers to three seconds of a terrible CG effect depicting “What Daredevil ‘sees’.” Kinda like the bad CG overlays from the Ben Affleck movie. If you don’t mind, I’d like to propose a different motif for this episode… night and day. Two halves of Daredevil’s life, two concurrently running plots, and one specific problem with the show.

Blogathon: Saturday Morning Memories Announcement

It has been a lot of fun running this site for the past few months, but one thing I would like to see more of is some interaction, and what better way to do that than by having a blogathon that everyone can join in on. And here at Channel: Superhero some of the earliest superhero TV shows that any of us have watched are the Saturday Morning Cartoons of our youths. So for this blogathon, I’d like us to go back and revisit some of those memories of the cartoons we grew up with. Not only that, but most of us now have kids and the landscape of superhero cartoons have greatly changed over the years. It makes me wonder what they would think about the shows that we watched in our youths.

Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends S:02 E:02

Episode Title: Along Came Spidey

When it was announced a few months ago that Sony would be starting over with Spider-Man movies AGAIN, and that the web-slinger would join the MCU, some fans started getting nervous. Would we be getting the Spider-Man origin story all over again!?! I understand the reservations with having a 3rd big screen version of the story, but you gotta admit that Spidey’s origin story is one of the best. Today’s episode of Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends gives us yet another take on the classic story in Along Came Spidey. Continue reading Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends S:02 E:02

The Flash S:01 E:21

Episode Title: Grodd Lives
Original Airdate: 5-5-15

It’s time for the a bit of a breather before next week ramps up to the season finale big superhero team up slash backdoor pilot for the officially-picked-up Legends of Tomorrow. Here we finally get a decent look at one of the most ridiculous sounding villains from the DC Universe: a massive gorilla with the ability to control people’s minds named Grodd. He also apparently knows martial arts, at least enough to casually deflect and redirect a supersonic punch. And there’s also a bit of the aftermath of Iris figuring out Barry’s secret and Eddie trying to get Eobord to start monologuing.

Episode Title: This is Your Sword

Original Airdate:05-06-15

While Season 3 has been a mixed bag since Oliver’s death, I was a huge fan of this week’s show, which finally paid off some lingering storylines and sets up a dramatic season finale. Continue reading Arrow: S:03, E:22
