Episode Title: The Dog
Original Airdate: 9/13/15

This episode picks up right where we left everyone two weeks ago. Madison and her kids are waiting at their house for Travis to return, attempting to distract themselves with the sounds of horror heard throughout the neighborhood. Travis, Chris and Liza are trapped in a barber shop with the Salazar family of Daniel, Griselda and Ofelia, as the riots become more dangerous outside. They finally escape when the store next door is set on fire. While running away, rioters force scaffolding to topple and Griselda’s foot is crushed. Though they agreed to go their separate ways, Travis returns to carry her to his truck so both families can escape together.

Episode Title: “The Golden Age of Justice!”

Original Air Date: January 15, 2010

I have always been fond of Golden Age heroes, and in particular the first DC super team, the Justice Society of America. I’ve never been able to pinpoint the affinity, maybe because the are less seen in comics and cartoons and seem like something special, or maybe I am just drawn to the different styles provided by there costumes and powers. Either way, I was excited when I saw the title for this episode, but would I be satisfied with the content? Read on to find out.

Batman S:01 E:05

Episode Title: The Joker’s Wild
Original Airdate: January 26, 1966

There is no comic book villain that rivals the Joker. Since he was first introduced just over 75 years ago, no other comic book villain is seen as being as evil and sadistic as the clown prince of crime. However, the first appearance of the character off the pages of the comics was on the 1966 Batman series, which is, at its heart, a comedy. Brought to life by the one and only Cesar Romero, it’s time for the Joker’s debut in The Joker’s Wild. Continue reading Batman S:01 E:05

Buffy The Vampire Slayer S:02 Ep:04

“Oh, I know this one! ‘Slaying entails certain sacrifices, blah blah bliddy blah, I’m so stuffy, give me a scone.’” – Buffy

So after the excitement of last week’s episode things are toned down this week as Buffy has to deal with a life force sucking mummy called Ampata who is preying on unsuspecting souls to maintain her human form. Things of course only get worse when Xander falls for her unaware of the secret she hides.

Episode Title: Road to Knowhere
Original Airdate: 9-26-15

In case you didn’t know, while the official premier date of the cartoon version of the Guardians of the Galaxy isn’t until September 26th, there was a sneak preview of the pilot episode along with several mini-sodes that looked at the origins of the main five characters from before they met up with each other in the movie just yesterday on Disney XD. I managed to watch the pilot episode as well as all of the mini-sodes and am here to give you my take on them. For the most part, I thought that they kept up with the movie’s humor while appropriately playing down the more adult elements of the humor. The voicework is quite obviously different from the film version, but they all manage to grasp the correct elements of their characters and while it might take a little getting used to if you’re a fan of the film, it doesn’t detract from the overall enjoyment of the show.

Episode Title: The Penguin’s a Jinx
Original Airdate: January 20, 1966

You may recall that when we last left Gotham City, Batman had decided that he needed to plant a bug at the Penguin’s umbrella factory in order to get to the bottom of the villain’s latest plot. However, the way to achieve that was to head to the factory as Bruce Wayne to plant the bug. The Penguin detects the bug, however, and now has Bruce (who he figures is a rival umbrella manufacturer) tied up and on a conveyor belt headed for the furnace. Let’s see what happens in our latest episode, The Penguin’s a Jinx. Continue reading Batman S:01 E:04

Buffy The Vampire Slayer S:02 Ep:03

Episode title: School Hard

Original air date: September 29, 1997

“You were my sire, man! You were my … YODA!” – Spike

For some reason I thought this episode came later in the season but this current rewatch only highlighted how early in this season the showrunners were working on their endgame for the season as this week we get the first appearance of Spike and Drusilla, two characters who would go on to play major roles in not only this series but “Angel” aswell. Not that we could have ever known this by this first appearance when they seemed like another villain of the week, but unquestionably here the duo certainly make their mark with their debut.

Unaware of the threat of Spike and Drusilla this week sees Buffy once more struggling to balance her slayer duties and school life and once more putting her in the sights of Principal Snyder, who pairs Buffy with fellow problem student Sheila to prepare the school lounge for the parent-teacher night or risk being expelled. Of course this event will serve for the climax of the episode with Spike launching an assault on the school. Continue reading Buffy The Vampire Slayer S:02 Ep:03
