Buffy The Vampire Slayer S:05 Ep:10

Episode Title:  Into The Woods

Original Air Date: 19th December 2000

“Well, I guess everybody jumped ship once the word got out that the Slayer found their crib. (Pause) I just want to apologize for the use of the word “Crib.” – Xander

So the previous episode was kind of a heavy one despite the sci-fi elements and seeing how we open to Joyce pulling through her surgery and looking to be on the mend you’d expect that this week would be maybe a little lighter…..sadly this isn’t the case especially in Sunnydale were one problem solved is often followed by another as Buffy and Riley’s relationship heads towards a crossroads.

Batman S:02 E:45

Episode Title: Batman’s Anniversary
Original Airdate: February 8, 1967

I’ve said many times that the highlight of Batman season one was Frank Gorshin’s performance as The Riddler. He took this, at the time, relatively minor Batman comics villain and turned him into one of the top mischief makers in the Gotham rogues gallery. Have you noticed that 44 episodes into season two we have yet to see the Prince of Puzzlers? Well, Gorshin was unavailable to continue the role during season two. We’ve already seen where the producers reworked Riddler into a new villain. Remember the Puzzler? Well, eventually the producers decided to bring the character back, but they would have to use another actor. Enter John Astin of Addams Family fame in today’s episode, Batman’s Anniversary. Episode Title: Chapter 5
Originally Aired: March 8th 2017

“It wears a human face.” After the fifth episode of the season, we have a stronger idea of who and what our villain is. The song Daily Mail by Radiohead plays a prominent role is this episode and is an apt description of David now that he is back from the astral plane. “The lunatics have taken over the asylum” and there is “no regard for human life” now that David is no longer in control of his body. If you are a fan of 80’s and 90’s horror movies like me you will see a little bit of Freddy Kruger in the way David goes to rescue his sister. Continue reading Legion S:01 E:05

Buffy The Vampire Slayer S:05 Ep:09

Episode Title:  Listening To Fear

Original Air Date: November 28th 2000

“You got her a book on spells? The girl who can break things by just looking at them, now has a book to teach her to break things by looking at ‘em?” – Buffy

Something of an odd mix of genres we get here this week as Joyce awaits her operation to remove her brain tumour as her condition only worsens leading her further into bouts of babbling. At the same time a meteorite hits Sunnydale containing a nasty little alien which feeds on crazy people.

Wonder Woman S:01 E:01

Episode Title: Wonder Woman meets Baroness von Gunther
Original Airdate: April 21, 1976

Whereas other famous superheroes like Batman and Superman have some pretty iconic bad guys who have been portrayed in their various TV incarnations, Wonder Woman is a bit different. I dare say that many of the people who aren’t a part of the comic book culture would have a hard time naming any of Wonder Woman’s foes, while villains like The Joker, Lex Luthor, The Riddler, or Brainiac are much more well-known. Well, here in our first regular season episode of Wonder Woman we have one of the series’ few appearances of a villain that originated in the comics. Get ready for Wonder Woman meets the Baroness von Gunther. Continue reading Wonder Woman S:01 E:01

Legion S:01 Episode:04

Episode Title: Chapter 4
Originally Aired: March 1st, 2017

“Violence is ignorance, so figure your shit out.” Oliver wants you to know that when you understand something there is no reason to have an irrational fear of it, which will minimize your need to lash out at it.  While a great thought provoking thought, it does not seem to have a lot to do with this particular episode of FX’s Legion. His second quote about the stories that we tell our children can be seen all over tonight’s episode. Is David the cute bunny that is getting to close to the ocean? On the other hand, is David the ocean dooming those that get too close? Continue reading Legion S:01 Episode:04
