Wonder Woman Season One Recap

We’ve come to the end of season one of Wonder Woman. Of course, it was a short season, just a pilot and thirteen episodes. It’s been fun, and we’re going to be launching into season two soon, but for now we’re going to take a quick look back at season one. Continue reading Wonder Woman Season One Recap

Episode Title: Wonder Woman in Hollywood
Original Airdate: February 16, 1977

Well, we’re a few days late on this week’s episode of Wonder Woman, but we couldn’t possibly ignore our favorite Amazon princess this week. After all, the first big screen movie fronted by the character is hitting theaters in a few days. Which makes this week’s episode a rather appropriate one. It’s the final episode of season one…Wonder Woman in Hollywood. Continue reading Wonder Woman S:01 E:13

Episode Title: The Bushwhackers
Original Airdate: January 29, 1977

When I was about 13 years old, I went on a trip with my grandparents to Washington D.C. I have many great memories of the trip, but one unusual thing I remember is that we had many of our meals at one restaurant in particular. See, many of the fast-food joints we came across were, let’s just say not too friendly looking. So, we kept on going back to Roy Rogers Chicken. We didn’t have those in the midwest, so it was kind of unique. Before he got into the chicken biz, though, Roy Rogers was a big big movie star. He wasn’t quite the box office draw anymore in 1977, but he did end up guest starring on Wonder Woman. Here he is as a Texas rancher in The Bushwhackers. Continue reading Wonder Woman S:01 E:12

Episode Title: Formula 407
Original Airdate: January 22, 1977

Those crazy Nazis. They’ve just got their sticky little fingers into everything. One day they’re out looking around for the Ark of the Covenant, next day they are trying to steal formulas for rubber as strong a steel. That’s what’s at the center of today’s episode of Wonder Woman, Formula 407. Continue reading Wonder Woman S:01 E:11

Episode Title: Judgment from Outer Space Part 2
Original Airdate: January 17, 1977

Last time, we left off with the alien Andros having been captured by the Nazis, and his outer space cohorts just moments away from deciding to destroy Earth. Wonder Woman has taken it on herself to find Andros’ flying saucer in attempt to contact the aliens and stop the destruction. Let’s see what happens in Judgment From Outer Space Part 2. Episode Title: Last of the Two Dollar Bills
Original Airdate: January 8, 1977

When it comes to money, old Thomas Jefferson kind of got the short end of the stick. Washington’s on the one dollar bill, honest Abe got the five, but old Tom got stuck on the two dollar bill…which is hardly ever used these days. Well, today’s episode of Wonder Woman answers the question of why that’s the case in Last of the Two Dollar Bills. Continue reading Wonder Woman S:01 E:08

Episode Title: The Pluto File
Original Airdate: December 25, 1976

There are certain actors that are well known for playing villains. There’s just a certain quality that makes them particularly suited to that type of role. Now, maybe it’s just me, but if I were a casting director, my first instinct for casting a bad guy would probably not be to go for an actor who is most famous for playing one of TV’s most famous sitcom dads. Then again, actors pride themselves on versatility. Forget about The Brady Bunch for a while, because this episode gives us Robert Reed (Mike Brady himself) as a sinister agent working for the Nazis in The Pluto File. Episode Title: Wonder Woman vs. Gargantua
Original Airdate: December 18, 1976

If King Kong taught us anything it’s that gorillas are drawn to beautiful women! So what better way for the Nazis to try and finally get rid of Wonder Woman, than to train a gorilla to attack her! No we’re not getting an appearance by Gorilla Grodd…dream on DC fanboys. It’s an ultimate case of beauty against beast in Wonder Woman vs. Gargantua. Continue reading Wonder Woman S:01 E:06

Wonder Woman S:01 E:05

Today’s episode of Wonder Woman is a Part II. In the 70’s, TV episodes that were “the exciting conclusion” often began with a recap of the previous week’s episode. You can read last week’s post, so I’m not going to do that, other than to say that Diana’s sister Drusilla (Debra Winger), aka Wonder Girl, has been captured by some Nazis and Diana doesn’t know where on earth she is. Let’s find out what happens in The Feminum Mystique Part 2. Continue reading Wonder Woman S:01 E:05

Episode Title: The Feminum Mystique Part 1
Original Airdate: November 6, 1976

You know, they say everyone has to start somewhere. Once an actor or actress hits it big, it’s often fun to take a look at where they started. Tom Hanks appeared in a slasher movie called He Knows You’re Alone, George Clooney was in Return of the Killer Tomatoes, and Hilary Swank was The Next Karate Kid. But for Debra Winger, the road that would eventually lead to three Oscar nominations first made a stop here. Prepare for Debra Winger as Wonder Girl in this week’s episode, The Feminum Mystique Part 1. Continue reading Wonder Woman S:01 E:04
