Buffy The Vampire Slayer S:03 Ep:02

“Didn’t anyone ever warn you about playing with pointy sticks? It’s all fun and games until somebody loses an eye.” – Buffy

Next to vampires might just be one the most over worked of the horror sub-genres, especially when every week there seems to be a new low budget zombie movie thrown out direct to DVD, so needless to the prospect of having Buffy face off against the zombie hordes this week was hardly a thrilling one.

Continuing on from the events of the previous episode, this episode essentially picks up directly after the season opener with Buffy struggling still to adjust to life back in Sunnydale as her mom still feels that she might run off again. At the same time the Xander and Willow appeared to have moved on without her. Of course she doesn’t have time to dwell for long when the mysterious mask her mother has brought back from her gallery has the nasty side effect of reanimating the dead.

Episode Title: Anne

Original Air Date: September 29, 1998

“You don’t hide. You’re bait. Go act baity.” – Xander

So last time we left Buffy and the Scoobies things were left in a mixture of celebration and sadness as Buffy stopped Sunnydale and the world being sucked into hell at the cost of sending Angel to hell instead. The season ending with Buffy on a bus and seemingly leaving Sunnydale and her responsibilities as the slayer behind her. Now re-joining them at the start of season 3, several months have now passed and Buffy is now living in Los Angeles working and disguising herself by working as a waitress under her middle name Anne. Meanwhile Willow, Xander and Oz are attempting to pick up Buffy’s slayer duties by continuing patrols with mixed results as they manage to lose as many vampires as they slay.

Fear not though as this show hasn’t turned into Buffy the waitress with her having to deal with folks refusing to tip or being sexually harassed by jackass customers, as despite leaving Sunnydale trouble still has a way of finding her as she soon finds herself helping fellow runaway Lily whose boyfriend mysteriously disappeared only to reappear as an old man

31 Days of Tales From the Crypt S:03 E:09

Greetings ghosts and goblins, this is Cryptkeeper Bubbawheat here once again for day 27 of our fantabulous feast of the faithful fans featuring another fable from our favorite show Tales From the Crypt. Today’s fearless female is Kristen Lopez from her site Journeys in Classic Film where as you might expect, she has been taking a journey in classic film, tackling mainly classic Hollywood from the 40’s through the 70’s along with the occasional dip backwards or forwards as she sees fit, including many trips to the Disney vault where she may or may not find some of my old fiendish friends tucked away in a dusty corner. But today she is looking at what could be called the Goonies of the show since it does, in fact, include one of the Goonies himself as well as a boy who would soon meet world, or at least be friends with a boy who would meet world for a few episodes before he grows up step by step. This is also one of the most misread episode titles as it does not refer to a room, or parlor, but instead refers to the paleness of the skin which is often associated with death, or you might say an Undertaking Palor.

31 Days of Tales From the Crypt: S:03 E:14

Good morning boils and ghouls, it’s time for the 18th victim to tell his tale of what happened when he watched an episode of Tales From the Crypt. This time it’s Tony Cogan from Coog’s Reviews where tackles most of the new releases coming out in theaters each week. He’s taking a look at one of the most unique Tales From the Crypt episodes, it’s the only one that’s an hour long instead of the usual 30 minutes as it was one of three originally intended for a movie anthology spinoff. There’s little to no humor in this one outside of the Cryptkeeper’s introduction but it’s one of the all time best episodes of the series about a World War I soldier turning Yellow.

31 Days of Tales From the Crypt S:03 E:02

Welcome back kiddies! Cryptkeeper Bubbawheat here to introduce the second day of our 31 Days of Tales From the Crypt. Today’s episode comes from David Babbitt who is part of another site dedicated to the moving images inspired by comic book panels over at 24 Panels per Second, where he and the rest of the team cover comic book movies in a monthly podcast as well as the occasional episode on a new release or a written article. Here, he takes a look at a great episode from the third season that I always felt had a very western vibe to it even though it’s set in the modern day. Carrion Death.

Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends S:03 E:07

Past episodes of Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends have told us that both Iceman and Firestar were once members of that heroic team of mutants, The X-Men. Professor X and his team have made short appearances on other episodes, but this time they are at the center of the episode in the appropriately titled The X-Men Adventure. Arrow Season: 03

Last season ‘Arrow’ had easily one of the best seasons of a TV show I’ve seen as there wasn’t a stinker in the bunch. Going into Season 3 it was already facing an uphill battle as it was trying to match the excellence of its predecessor and stave off competition from a slew of new comic book based shows.

In the end, Season 3 didn’t quite live up to my expectations. It wasn’t the frequent trainwreck that was ‘Gotham’ and wasn’t as inconsistent as ‘Agents of SHIELD,’ but this season never reached that next level that developed so organically in Season 2.  Continue reading Arrow Season: 03

Episode Title: My Name Is Oliver Queen

Original Airdate: 05-13-15

Season 3 is in the books for ‘Arrow’ with the city saved and one surprising death.

I was attempting to figure out why I felt a bit underwhelmed by the season finale and I think in large part I was tired of saying goodbye to Oliver Queen. Continue reading Arrow: S:03, E:23

Episode Title: This is Your Sword

While Season 3 has been a mixed bag since Oliver’s death, I was a huge fan of this week’s show, which finally paid off some lingering storylines and sets up a dramatic season finale. Continue reading Arrow: S:03, E:22
