Welcome back to another Webseries Wednesday and once again I’m looking at another episode of the CW’s Vixen which can be found on the CW Seed website and app. This webseries is done through DC Animation and connects to the CW shows Arrow and the Flash and after four episodes we are finally introduced to the villain of the show more or less as well as the background of Mari’s life and her adoption. Episode Title: Not Fade Away

It’s been nine days since the National Guard moved in to clear out the infected. They’ve put up a fence to create a safe zone, promised doctors, medicine, food and eventually, electricity. We know all this because the episode opens with a painful expository scene of Chris talking to his video camera, while hanging out on the roof. At this time, he also glimpses a flashing light reflected in the danger zone, which he believes to be signaling that someone is trapped. Travis doesn’t believe him, but Madison cuts the fence to go investigate. She sees many dead bodies that have yet to be cleared out and some that were shot in the head that were not infected, but must hide when the Guard comes through and therefore cannot find the light source.

This episode picks up right where we left everyone two weeks ago. Madison and her kids are waiting at their house for Travis to return, attempting to distract themselves with the sounds of horror heard throughout the neighborhood. Travis, Chris and Liza are trapped in a barber shop with the Salazar family of Daniel, Griselda and Ofelia, as the riots become more dangerous outside. They finally escape when the store next door is set on fire. While running away, rioters force scaffolding to topple and Griselda’s foot is crushed. Though they agreed to go their separate ways, Travis returns to carry her to his truck so both families can escape together.

Hello all my X rated fans. It’s I The Vern and I sure missed you a whole bunch these last few days while I was gone.  Did you all have a good labor day weekend to go out and enjoy this nice weather before fall hits.  You did, well that is just awesome.  A few of The X-Men including Storm, Jubilee and Gambit decided that a break also sounded like fun.   So they decided to head on out to this Island that supposedly accepts mutants.  But before they can apply that sunscreen and take a dip in the pool. They are attacked and are captured by Sentinels. Will they be forced to participate in several lame camping activities to win a merit badge or will Cyclops and the rest of the team find them before they haft to endure arts and crafts hour. Guardians of the Galaxy S:01 E:01

In case you didn’t know, while the official premier date of the cartoon version of the Guardians of the Galaxy isn’t until September 26th, there was a sneak preview of the pilot episode along with several mini-sodes that looked at the origins of the main five characters from before they met up with each other in the movie just yesterday on Disney XD. I managed to watch the pilot episode as well as all of the mini-sodes and am here to give you my take on them. For the most part, I thought that they kept up with the movie’s humor while appropriately playing down the more adult elements of the humor. The voicework is quite obviously different from the film version, but they all manage to grasp the correct elements of their characters and while it might take a little getting used to if you’re a fan of the film, it doesn’t detract from the overall enjoyment of the show.

Back again for another Webseries Wednesday, and there’s another brand new episode of CW’s Vixen over on CW Seed. Once again, there’s no embedding so if you’re interested in watching the five minute episode 2 go ahead and click the link below. Last episode brought up a lot of questions about Vixen, a character that I knew nothing about and I still know very little about. This episode answered only a couple of those questions while still leaving much on the table for future episodes, it also introduced what’s likely to be the villain of the season even though all we get to see of her is a mouth.

Fear the Walking Dead S:01 E:02

Episode Title: So Close, Yet So Far
Original Airdate: 8-30-15

After witnessing the undead Cal in action, Travis, Madison and Nick realize something terrible is starting in L.A. They decide to pack up and head out of town until everything blows over (ha!). They must split up when Travis goes to his ex-wife’s house looking for his son, Chris. Chris was on his way home on the bus when all traffic stopped because the police shot a homeless man in the street. A crowd begins to gather in protest and Chris, filming the incident, refuses to leave when Travis gets him on the phone. Travis and his ex-wife, Liza, go to get Chris from the crime scene and realize how dangerous things are really becoming. Blocked by police and surrounded by rioters and a few Walkers, the trio find refuge in a barber shop with the owner and his family. Everyone hopes things will calm down enough to leave, but things only seem to go from bad to worse as the night progresses.

Webseries: Vixen S:01 E:01

Welcome to a spin-off of what I’ve been doing lately here on Wednesdays where I feature an episode of a webseries that you can watch right now along with a conversation with the creator. This time around I’m featuring an episode of a brand new studio-driven webseries that ties in with the CW’s Flash and Arrow called Vixen that’s being promoted on their CW Seed site and app. The promising thing about this series is that the protagonist of this series is a Black woman, something that is sorely lacking these days in superhero television or cinema. I don’t know anything about this character’s background so I’m coming at this from a completely clean slate. Also, the CW Seed doesn’t appear to allow embedding so you will have to follow a link to watch the episode as I will not be embedding any pirated versions of this show that may have found their way to YouTube or some other hosting site.
