Episode Title: Date of Death
Original Airdate: 9-25-16
We have our first reunion after the mid-season split, as Travis finds his way to the Hotel, having seen the sign at night, thanks to Madison’s stupidity. But he’s not the only; a small mob of desperate survivors beg Madison and Co. to let them in, which at first they refuse, but eventually allow. After reuniting, Travis tells Madison his tale of sorrow, and losing Chris.

Episode Title: Pillar of Salt
Original Airdate: 9-18-16
At the Colonia, one of the families sneaks off, upsetting Alejandro greatly. He refuses to allow Nick and Luciana to leave for supplies at the gang-run Warehouse, convinced they’re safe since no one knows where they are. Nick decides to go after dark, but before that can happen, he sees the leader of the Warehouse staring back at him through binoculars.

Episode Title: Pablo & Jessica
Original Airdate: 9-11-16
Following last week’s exciting and intriguing episode, we’re back to same old thing. After reconnecting with Alicia, Madison and Strand try to make peace with the guests who hate Elena, so they can all live in the hotel together, with plenty of protection and food. They don’t get far with the bride’s mother or groom from the wedding party massacre, but when the other guests see them clearing out the dead to take back the hotel, they join in to help. Alicia realizes that leading the hotel’s Infected off the pier into the choppy ocean waters will be quicker and more effective than going room to room and burning bodies. Eventually Madison heads up the dangerous game of Follower the Leader, but survives with no real threat. During a celebratory dinner, Strand goes to see the groom. After some convincing, the groom lets go and allows Strand to kill his Infected bride (Jessica), whom he’d been guarding since she’d turned. And it seems Ofelia may have just left in the truck, as both are now missing.

Episode Title: Do Not Disturb
Original Airdate: 9-4-16
A gripping opening continued into a really good episode this week. When Strand, Madison, Alicia and Ofelia walked through the deserted hotel last week, they came upon an abandoned wedding reception in the ballroom. This week we got to see the wedding from hell, as the father of the bride died of a heart attack, reanimated and bit into his daughter’s face. The real kicker came when hotel manager, Elena locked all the wedding guests in the ballroom to contain the situation. That’s just cold.

Episode Title: Los Muertos
Original Airdate: 8-28-16
Thankfully Nick is not the main focus this week, as we catch up with what Madison, Strand, Alicia and Ofelia have been up to since escaping the compound. Apparently, they just drove around for two days looking for Nick and Travis and coming up empty. Strand finally convinces Madison that they have to go back to the boat, but when they get to the beach, the Abigail is gone. So it’s time to find shelter, which they do in a nearby beach resort. The place seems safe enough, with no Infected littering the downstairs or hallways. However, when Alicia and Ofelia begin inspecting the individual rooms, they realize many are filled will the undead. Meanwhile, Madison and Strand decide to raid the hotel bar, getting drunker and louder by the minute, attracting a group of undead from a building across the street. Soon the Infected trapped in the rooms upstairs begin falling over the balconies to find the source of the noise as well, trapping Strand and Madison with no chance of escape and no weapons for defense. Upstairs, Alicia realizes what’s happening with the falling dead, but Ofelia has disappeared, leaving the youngest member of the Clark family alone with more Infected bearing down.

Episode Title: Grotesque
Original Airdate: 8-21-16
After a zombie-free summer, it’s time to get back into the undead with the mid-season premiere of FTWD. And apparently they want to ease us in as slowly as humanly (and zombiely) possible.
After splitting up the group in the last episode, we return with Nick wandering through the Mexican desert…for an entire episode. After seeing the Abigail compound on fire and inquiring about Celia’s whereabouts to his mother, Nick decided to not escape with Madison at the end of the last episode. This episode picks up with Nick parting ways with one the compound’s servants, with only a small backpack of supplies and no real destination in mind, plus zero survival skills. He quickly loses said backpack, is soon shot at by a crazed gang, then attacked by hungry wild dogs in his sleep, all before becoming dangerously dehydrated and saved at the last minute by the mysterious Luciana and brought to a survival camp. All of this spliced with a few flashback sequences of Nick’s time in rehab somehow took an entire hour to show. Continue reading Fear the Walking Dead S:02 E:08

Two episodes in and the best way to sum up Preacher is baffling but fun. My main hope for the second episode of Preacher was that it would slow down, be a little more focused, and begin to unravel the story that will be told over the 10-episode season. It was not better by leaps and bounds but it was an improvement over last week. Instead of splitting the story almost in thirds, it strongly focuses on Jesse with Tulip and Cassidy acting as supporting characters. Continue reading Preacher S:01 E:02

Have you ever wanted to watch a show and when you turned on your TV there was a sporting event or news broadcast on in its place? Sometimes if the show is popular enough it will start from the beginning and just run long forcing a show later in the evening to adjust. However, if it is just a middle of the road show or something more popular is on later you will hear the message; “we now join this program already in progress.” Continue reading Preacher S:01 E:01
Episode Title: Shiva
Original Airdate: 5-22-16
After copy-catting a huge plotline from TWD’s second season, FTWD had a lot to make up for in this mid-season finale. After discovering that Strand killed a dying Abigail, housekeeper Celia tells him he and the others have a day to pack up and leave. Nick goes back to the boat to fetch a turned Luis and bring him back to his mother to soften her on the eviction. She decides everyone can stay, except Strand, as long as they accept her ways. Madison tells Celia she wants to understand, so Celia leads her to the wine cellar full of Infected. While Celia monologues about her religious beliefs, Madison locks her in the cellar and walks away.

This is week the survivors finally make it off the Abigail and into Mexico, but not without some blood shed, losing Strand’s friend Luis in the process. At first Strand considers dying with him, so the housekeeper, Celia (Luis’s mother) brings them poisoned communion wafers to help the process. Strand changes his mind and puts a bullet in Tom’s head.
