Batman: The Brave and the Bold S01 E09

Episode Title: “Journey to the Center of the Bat!”

Original Air Date: January 30, 2009

Sometimes in life you are given everything you want, like a pillow case full of candy on Halloween, and though this episode was released in Winter, it felt like fall with all the sweet, sugary goodness of characters it contained. The two breakout guest heroes so far have been Plastic Man and Aquaman, and this episode raises our glucose levels dangerously high by including both. Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends S:1 E:9

Episode Title: Spidey Goes to Hollywood

Right now, many of my friends from the world of film blogging are in Hollywood at the Turner Classic Movies Film Festival. While I, on the other hand, get to watch them tweet about the festival from the comfort of my own home and office. I am jealous, to say the least. Now, as if to pour salt on the wound, even Spider-Man, Iceman and Firestar get to head off to tinsel town in this week’s episode, Spidey Goes to Hollywood. Continue reading Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends S:1 E:9

Webseries: Bad Days S:01 E:03

Episode Title: Green Lantern
Original Airdate: 10-22-12

Welcome to another Webseries Spotlight where you don’t just have to read about the shows we cover here, but you can actually watch them. This time around I’m featuring an animated webseries from Klomp Animation based out of the Netherlands about superheroes having a bad day, appropriately called Bad Days. We will be sharing an episode, a part of our conversation with lead animator and co-founder Junaid Chundrigar, and/or some behind the scenes pictures each week every Thursday. But if you can’t wait, feel free to check out the rest of the webseries at Stan Lee’s World of Heroes and CineFix. This week the bearer of a certain ring does not have a very good day. Well, technically he has a great day, but everyone else around him does not.

Arrow S:03 E:17

 Episode Title: Suicidal Tendencies

Original Airdate: 3-252015

Atom vs. Arrow! Suicide Squad! Felicity stands by her man! One shocking character death! And the manhunt begins!

If anything, this week’s show was probably a little too jam packed with storylines that would have been better suited as focus of their own episode. Putting two significant storylines in one shortchanged both and didn’t give either enough time to breathe. In one sense, it certainly kept things moving. Continue reading Arrow S:03 E:17

The Flash S:01 E:16

Episode Title: Rogue Time
Original Airdate: 3-25-15

Continuing where last week’s episode left off, which was also pretty much the beginning of last week’s episode since Barry found himself repeating the same day once again, but the show doesn’t go the typical time loop route for very long. And while it does undo pretty much all of the major revelations of last week’s episode as most of us would have anticipated, it did undo them in ways that I didn’t entirely expect. It was a very surprising mixture of falling into expectations while also subverting them in some subtle ways. And while there are still some serious topics coming through the episode, it always finds time to lighten the mood whenever possible. Not quite as enjoyable as last week’s Out of Time, but still a great entry in the series nonetheless.

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. S:02 E:14

Episode Title: Love In The Time Of Hydra

Original Airdate: 3-24-15

New characters. New storylines. New conflicts and much else arise in the latest episode of ‘Agents of S.H.I.EL.D.’ entitled ‘Love In The Time Of Hydra’. Although it’s a curious title given that there is no more H.Y.D.R.A. Supposedly.  But there are two relationship angles playing out this episode. One of the conflicted one between Nick Blood’s Hunter an Adrianne Pallicki’s Bobbi, and another budding relationship between Brett Dalton’s Ward and the returning Agent 33 played by Maya Stojan. Despite all this, the most interesting elements of the show take a back seat this episode, which is very disappointing.

iZombie S:01 E:02

Episode: Brother, Can You Spare a Brain?
Original Airdate: 3-24-15

Liv and company are back again this week with another strong offering that really jumps into a few the heart of what format this show will ultimately follow. There’s a bit more fleshing out of what happens to Liv when she gets her brain fix with hilarious results, and there’s also the introduction of the darker side of the undead with the first real introduction of the guy who seemingly started it all and hasn’t really stopped yet, Blaine. This show is already growing on me more than any of the other shows I’ve been watching the past couple years. Liv is adorable and funny as the lead, and this episode introduces how she will be able to adjust her personality depending on who the victim was each week. And the Blaine subplot is one that has the potential to explore the darker side of the zombie trade.

Webseries: We Might Be Superheroes S:01 E:06

Episode Title: Fight For Your Right!
Original Airdate: 10-16-2013

Welcome back to another episode of the webseries We Might Be Superheroes where we continue our conversation where we left off last week. As always, if you can’t wait to check out the rest of the episodes, visit their official website. This week Hope and Faith fight their way through a personal argument between themselves, though it’s not exactly what you might think it is at first.

Powers S:01 E:05

One ten-round bare knuckle boxing match, surrounded by flashbacks and weird psychic wars, comin’ right up. This tale tunnels in on Wolfe’s character, staying focused compared to some of the more meandering episodes of the series… and ends up strong as a result, with fewer of the more tiresome bits that tend to tag along for the ride. Are you afraid of the Big Bad Wolfe?
