Buffy The Vampire Slayer – Season 1 Wrap Up

So here we already at the end of the first season which isn’t surprising that its flown by so quickly especially considering that the show was a mid season filler and such only given a half season order of thirteen episodes, only to of course far succeed what anyone expected from the show and while many fans will often look to the later seasons when getting nostalgic about the show, it’s been a pleasant surprise to be reminded during this revisit of how many good episodes this first season had.

Episode Title: Enter Magneto

Original Airdate:  11-27-92

Hello X-Fans. We are back for another exciting entry into the X-Men The Animated series.  What new adventures await are mutant friends.  Well, when we last left our heroes.   Beast was being captured by the Sentinels because of the break in to the Mutant Registration Building and is being held to be put on trial. Will The X-Men break him out or will Beast be able to pass his bar exam in time for the trial.  Let’s not sit around like Professor X (too soon?)  and get going with this week’s  adventure. The Walking Dead Season 2

Episode Title: Judge, Jury, Executioner
Original Airdate: 3-4-12

It’s annoying old man versus annoying kid this week. The episode starts with Daryl torturing the captive Randall (yep, he’s STILL a thing) for information about his group to determine how much danger everyone at the farm might be in if they set him free. It is decided his release is too much of a threat. No one wants to actually kill the kid (okay, except maybe crazy Shane) but old man Dale is adamant that this action is wrong and spends the day trying to change everyone’s mind, one by one. Yes, it’s as painful and drawn out as it sounds.

31 Days of Tales From the Crypt: Sign-ups

Hello boils and ghouls! It’s time once again for another blogathon here at Channel: Superhero. And even though October is right in the middle of the new fall season, it’s still a perfect excuse to share some love of horror, and what better combination of horror, comics, and television than Tales From the Crypt? It ran on HBO for seven seasons, it was hosted by one of the most iconic horror characters, and it had a whole host of famous and pre-famous actors, writers, and directors taking a shot at a single episode. What I’d like to do here at Channel: Superhero is to take an in depth look at a different episode every single day and I need your help!

Batman: The Brave and the Bold S02 E01

Episode Title: “Death Race to Oblivion!”

Original Air Date: November 20, 2009

So this episode gives us an homage to the Roger Corman produced Death Race 2000, seem like an odd choice for a family show, but it was a lot of fun just the same. I can say that I, for one, have always wanted to see a no holds barred vehicular race across a barren wasteland featuring Batman, the Joker, Green Arrow, Guy Gardner and Woozy Winks, so I’ve got that going for me.

Batman: Introduction

Even though I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s, the TV shows of the 50’s and 60’s were a big part of my childhood. Before we had cable TV, local UHF stations would fill their schedules with old shows now running in syndication. Every summer, one of the shows that would pop up on the schedule was the classic late 60’s series Batman. This was, and still is, one of my favorite shows of all time. Buffy The Vampire Slayer S:01 Ep: 12

Episode title: Prophecy Girl

Original air date: June 2, 1997

“I may be dead, but I’m still pretty – which is more than I can say for you.” – Buffy

So here we are at the end of season one after what only seems like a few weeks, with the original half season order this show was given when it originally commissioned as a late season replacement. This would of course be corrected with the following seasons which would all receive full 22 episode seasons. Perhaps because of the shortness of this season, this episode doesn’t have the feeling of a season finale as Buffy this week prepares to face the Master in a fight which she had been prophesised to die in.

Episode Title: Night of The Sentinels. Parts 1 and 2
Original Airdate: 10-31-92

Hello everyone and welcome back to my coverage of X-Men: The Animated Series.  Night of The Sentinels would be the show’s pilot episode and for a kids show.  It does manage to  have some pretty heavy subject material in the first few shows  With concepts ranging from concentration camps in the holocaust to sacrificing your own life to save a friend.  This first one does reference stories from previous issues of the comic.  Such as the creation of The Sentinels(Uncanny X-Men #14)  and the mutant registration act(Uncanny X-Men #181).  The look and design of the characters themselves are almost identical to the ones artist Jim Lee drew in the 90’s.   Let’s cue up that awesome theme song and start discussing this first entry.

Heroes S:01 E:04

Episode Title: Collision
Original Airdate: 10-16-2006

Coming into the fourth episode of the season and characters are already starting to intermingle with each others story lines in different and unexpected ways. Some of the characters begin to fall into using their powers for their own gain, and we get to see a little bit more of Noah and what he really does. There isn’t much progress on the Sylar front, or really any major story line. Most of this episode just involves a lot of character development and interactions along with the first real hint at the season long tagline “Save the cheerleader, save the world.”
