Batman Season 1 Recap & Season 2 Preview

Well we made it to the end of the first season of the classic 1960’s series Batman. Thirty-four episodes, which actually translates to only a seventeen week run (two episodes a week, remember). So before we move on to season two of the series let’s look back at some of the highlights and then we’ll give a brief preview of season two. Arrow: S:04 E:18

Episode Title: Eleven Fifty Nine
Original Airdate: 4-7-16

So, wow. I was completely wrong on who was getting killed off on Arrow. In all honesty, I didn’t see such a major character getting killed — assuming one of the second tier supporting characters being fair game. Curtis’ husband, Donna Smoak and maybe Quentin Lance, but to actually lose a member of Team Arrow? Pretty bold and shocking stuff. Continue reading Arrow: S:04 E:18

iZombie S2

Episode Title: Reflections of the Way Liv Use to Be
Original Airdate: 4-5-16

The case-of-the-week has Liv and Clive looking into another murder at the local university, where Liv runs into some of the old frat bros from earlier in the season. The dead girl whose brain Liv turns into stir fry was incredibly Type A, running for Student Senate and a CI for Seattle PD after being busted for selling Adderall, so we get to see Det. Benedetto from Vice again (Enrico Colantoni), but he’s not exactly the good guy one would hope for in a cop. When busting dealing college kids, he turns them into CIs, without approval from higher-ups, in order for them to get their charges dropped and him to bust more drug dealers, which is all very dangerous.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer S:03 Ep:11

Episode Title: Gingerbread

Original Air Date: January 12, 1999

“Aw, man, it’s Nazi Germany, and I’ve got Playboys in my locker!” – Xander

Until point Buffy’s mum Joyce has largely been a background for the most part, there to play the supportive ear and occasional get drawn into the week’s events with her dalliance with Giles in “Bad Candy” clearly still an awkward memory here it would seem. This week though while engaging in alittle mother daughter slaying she stumbles across two young children who appear to have been sacrificed by witches. Now fuelled with a vigilante spirit she sets up MOO (Mothers Against The Occult) to save Sunnydale from the supernatural in particular witches which she believes are to blame for the death of these two children, while Buffy sets out to find out who the real culprit is.

TWD S6 Promo

Episode Title: Last Day on Earth
Original Airdate 4-3-16

I’m just going to get this out in the open right out of the gate: that wasn’t a cliffhanger, it was a dick move.

So the “90-minute” finale (with enough commercial breaks to rival the Super Bowl), was split into two plot lines. One was Morgan, on horseback, looking for Carol. He finds her in pretty bad shape and tries to convince her she needs to come back to Alexandria for stitches and healing. She refuses, gives him the slip and ends up on the wrong side of a gun held by the one Savior she failed to kill on the road in the last episode. He shoots her in the arm and leg, and walks away, but she taunts him into coming back to finish the job. As he’s about to pull the trigger, Morgan shows up and gives the man a chance to back away, but eventually nixes his “all life is precious” mantra and kills the Savior to save Carol.

The Flash S:02 E:17

Episode Title: Flash Back
Original Airdate: 3-29-16

It’s time to go back, back to the future! Or actually the past as the Flash decides that he needs to talk to the only other speedster that he knows of who just so happens to be based back in the past. A year in the past to be exact back in season one as he visits Eobord Thawne posing as Harrison Wells during the time when he battled the Pied Piper. Though as usual, things don’t go exactly according to plan and the timeline gets changed in at least one unexpected way.

Daredevil S:02 E:03

Originally Aired: March 18th 2016
Episode Title: New York’s Finest

This episode covered both ends of the spectrum; it started with long sequences of dialog and exposition and finished with the most action-filled scene of the series so far. We finally learn the Punisher’s first name, Frank, and that he believes he is doing what is right by preventing evil men from committing further atrocities. While I could always use more Foggy, this very good episode let us scratch the surface of what motivates our two heroes.

Batman S:01 E:34

Episode Title: Batman Makes the Scenes
Original Airdate: May 5, 1966

When we last left Gotham City, Batman and Robin had been captured by the Penguin and placed inside a vacuum chamber full of balloons. The air is slowly being sucked out of the room. Once the last balloon pops…well…so will the Dynamic Duo. How will they possibly survive? Let’s find out in the final episode of season one, Batman Makes the Scenes. Continue reading Batman S:01 E:34

Buffy The Vampire Slayer S:03 Ep:10

Episode Title: Amends

Original Air Date: December 15, 1998

“Alright, I get it, you’re evil. Do we have to chat about it all day?” – Buffy

This week we pay an untimely festive visit to Sunnydale and while Buffy and the Scoobies are preparing for Christmas, Angel meanwhile finds himself being haunted by dreams of the people he has murdered over the years. However when Buffy finds herself being drawn into these nightmares, she soon begins to suspect that something else might be at play.

I will start by saying that this far from my favourite episode of this season, let alone any of four three episodes I have covered before this one, so of course there was the urge to use the excuse that because it’s a Christmas episode and we are in March that I could skip it, but then that’s not how we roll here at Channel Superhero.

Arrow S:04 E:17

Episode Title: Beacon of Hope
Original Airdate: 3-30-16

Arrow tried to outdo Flash this week with a greater emphasis on humor and yuks in an experiment that reinforced The Flash is by far the best of the comic book shows on TV right now. And Arrow? Well, it needs to just stick to being a better version of Arrow than a weak copy of another show. Continue reading Arrow S:04 E:17
