Buffy The Vampire Slayer S:03 Ep:10

Episode Title: Amends

Original Air Date: December 15, 1998

“Alright, I get it, you’re evil. Do we have to chat about it all day?” – Buffy

This week we pay an untimely festive visit to Sunnydale and while Buffy and the Scoobies are preparing for Christmas, Angel meanwhile finds himself being haunted by dreams of the people he has murdered over the years. However when Buffy finds herself being drawn into these nightmares, she soon begins to suspect that something else might be at play.

I will start by saying that this far from my favourite episode of this season, let alone any of four three episodes I have covered before this one, so of course there was the urge to use the excuse that because it’s a Christmas episode and we are in March that I could skip it, but then that’s not how we roll here at Channel Superhero.

Daredevil S:02 E:02

Episode Title: Dogs to a Gunfight
Originally Aired: March 18th, 2016

After the exciting conclusion to the first episode of the new season the second episode starts with Foggy on a frantic search for the injured Matt. The mystery of who Daredevil’s rooftop opponent was is slowly being brought into the light literally and figuratively. We finally get to see The Punisher in the light for the first time and get a good look at John Bernthal’s Frank Castle. We also learn that the moniker The Punisher is the code name given to him by the police and District Attorney’s office.  Continue reading Daredevil S:02 E:02

The Flash S:02 E:16

Episode Title: Trajectory
Original Airdate: 3-22-16

Barry and co are back from their mini hiatus and are met with yet another speedster and this time it’s a lady. Meanwhile Iris has to deal with her own mini J. Jonah Jameson who also just happens to have a little crush on her, which is probably why she hasn’t been fired yet. And the show ends on one of the most anti-climactic reveals in the show’s history considering that it’s essentially just the characters finding out something that the audience already knew.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer S:03 Ep:09

Episode Title: The Wish

Original Air Date: December 8, 1998

“Okay, the entire world sucks because some dead ditz made a wish? I just want to be clear.” – Larry

Despite the Xander / Willow secret romance coming to an abrupt end in the previous episode this week the gang are still dealing with the fallout what with Oz still not speaking to Willow while Cordelia has separated herself from the Scoobies completly in an attempt to reclaim her former life. Sadly things are hardly going well for her as she is humiliated and abandoned by her former group. Of course this being Sunnydale means that things can always get worse which they do when Cordelia unwittingly has her wish that Buffy never came to Sunnydale granted by the vengeance demon Anyanka.

Daredevil S:02 E:01

Episode Title: Bang
Originally Aired: 3/18/2016

As temperatures climb tempers flare and as the title implies the new season of Daredevil starts with a bang. Season 2 picks up a short but indeterminate amount of time after the events of season 1, new cartels, mobs and criminals of every sort are out to fill the void left behind by the Kingpin and his associates. The city of Hell’s Kitchen is in the grips of a heat wave, things are about to boil over and Daredevil may not be the man for the job this time around.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer S:03 Ep:08

Episode Title: Lovers Walk

Original Air Date: November 24, 1998

“You’re not friends. You’ll never be friends. You’ll be in love till it kills you both. You’ll fight, and you’ll shag, and you’ll hate each other till it makes you quiver but you’ll never be friends. Love isn’t brains, children, it’s blood; blood screaming inside you to work its will. I may be love’s bitch, but at least I’m man enough to admit it.” – Spike

For some reason I’d disregarded this week’s episode as being a very minor and one which served to wrap up the secret relationship between Willow and Xander. At the same time Spike also makes his sole return to Sunnydale for this season, having been dumped by Drusilla and leaving him a heartbroken wreck determined to win her back with the help of Willow’s magical abilities.

Legends of Tomorrow S:01 E:06

Episode Title: Star City 2046
Original Airdate: 2-25-16

It’s finally time to get our first look at the future aside from the very beginning of the pilot episode, and not only that, but there’s no sign of Vandal Savage in the episode which is a first. Instead, their little unexpected romp into the future takes them to a Star City where things have become a bit of a dystopia to put it mildly. This is also the first episode where there isn’t any significant team strengthening, at least not in any major way. And in fact, there’s the first signs of a team that won’t last through the entire season, something that I may have heard has already happened in currently aired shows. But I’ll get to that when I get to that.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer S:03 Ep:07

Episode Title: Revelations

Original Air Date: November 17, 1998

“The fact is, there is talk in the Council that you have become a bit too …. American.” – Gwendolyn Post

Time for another of my favourite episodes whose appearance in the season really reminds me of how many great episodes this season has. It’s also one of the early Faith-centric episodes as she gains a new watcher in the form of Gwendolyn Post who also brings with her a warning of the demon Lagos who has also arrived in Sunnydale looking for the Glove of Myneghon.

Gotham S:02 E:13

Episode Title: A Dead Man Feels No Cold
Original Airdate: 3-7-16

I wasn’t so sure about Gotham returning when they announced Mr. Freeze as the new villain of the arc, and I still wasn’t entirely sure when he started going around freezing people. But what did surprise me was the other new villain, one that comic fans might be aware of, but I had never heard of by now and that was Hugo Strange played here by B.D. Wong. As a villain, in just two short episodes he has become the fascinating person with goals that make sense and yet are also very sinister and twisted while simultaneously being secretly out in the open. And his look is so bizarre with the round colored glasses and odd beard choice. It looks very comic book, but somehow doesn’t exactly seem all that out of place in the world of Gotham.

Legends of Tomorrow S:01 E:05

Episode Title: Fail-Safe
Original Airdate: 2-18-16

Still behind on this show, but at least I’m not getting any behinder, not that behinder is a word, but two weeks ago we had this episode that in terms of the team dynamic seems to be sluggishly moving forward. The show continues to make baby steps to show the audience that the Legends of Tomorrow still aren’t a team that’s fully meshed together and working as a single unit, but the bonds are continuing to form character by character and each episode the unit as a whole gets just a little bit stronger while Vandal Savage also seems to slowly become more and more capable and prepared for their next threat.
