Legends of Tomorrow S:01 E:05

Episode Title: Fail-Safe
Original Airdate: 2-18-16

Still behind on this show, but at least I’m not getting any behinder, not that behinder is a word, but two weeks ago we had this episode that in terms of the team dynamic seems to be sluggishly moving forward. The show continues to make baby steps to show the audience that the Legends of Tomorrow still aren’t a team that’s fully meshed together and working as a single unit, but the bonds are continuing to form character by character and each episode the unit as a whole gets just a little bit stronger while Vandal Savage also seems to slowly become more and more capable and prepared for their next threat.

Gotham S:02 E:12

Episode Title: Mr. Freeze
Original Airdate: 2-29-16

It seems like it’s been a long time, but Gotham is finally back and has transitioned from the Rise of the Villains to the Wrath of the Villains starting with our good old friend Mr. Freeze. It also answers the age old question of how you properly pronounce his last name. While I’ve notoriously had my ups and downs with this show, it ended with last year’s midseason on a rather high note. But at the same time, I really had my doubts with how they were going to handle the rather large shoes to fill for someone who is honestly a variation of Flash and Legends of Tomorrow’s Captain Cold, with more tragedy and less humor. But I will say that for now I’m still on board. I just wish we had a little more time with Leslie Thompkins who I saw a whole lot more of last month in Deadpool, but I’ll just leave that over there for now.

Supergirl S01:E15

Episode Title: Solitude

Original Airdate: 03-01-2016

Blue Braniac Rises? Okay, so one of Superman’s greatest nemesis arrives in National City, under the pseudonym Indigo, personified by previous Supergirl incumbent, Laura Vandervoot (from Smallville), and proceeds to make life hell on Earth. Oh, and we’re finally given the privilege of seeing the television version of the Fortress of Solitude (hence the episode’s title), Superman’s home-away-from-home that becomes something of a jaw-dropping Easter egg exercise from the franchise’s mythos. Cross-cutting Kara’s resignation from the DEO following the events of the previous episode’s dramatic turn, with Indigo’s insertion into the world’s communication network, the episode plays out with nuclear tension and one hell of a dramatic payoff.

Episode Title: Knots Untie
Original Airdate: 2-28-16

Things cooled off a little this week, but the Group’s world has now opened up to many more possibilities. After letting Rick and Michonne put some clothes on in private, Jesus tells them he is a scout for his community. He looks for other survivor camps with which to potentially open a trade of goods. Rick, Michonne, Maggie, Glenn, Daryl and Abraham agree to take Jesus home and discuss trading options with his leader. On the way, they save several members from Jesus’s group after a car accident, including a doctor who was an OB before the apocalypse, lucky for Maggie and Glenn.

The Flash S:02 E:15

Episode Title: King Shark
Original Airdate: 2-23-16

After last week’s doozy of an Earth 2 escape, this week the Flash and co. have to deal with all the repercussions of what they’ve gone through, what’s been lost, and what’s been left behind. And it just so happens that the thing that has been left behind is a giant killer man-shark, and they toss in Diggle for good measure just because. And of course, there’s the big reveal at the end where we finally find out who Zoom is, or at least what he looks like which raises a few more questions than answers at the moment.

Batman S:01 E:29

Episode Title: The Bookworm Turns
Original Airdate: April 20, 1966

There are movie people and then there are book people. I am definitely a movie guy, but my wife likes to fill her free time with books. She’s one of those people who has trouble enjoying certain films because they differ so much from the original book version. I have a feeling that’s the sort of person our villain in today’s episode of Batman is. It’s a character created for this series and portrayed by one of the biggest names to be credited as “Guest Villain.” Before he was Cornelius of the Planet of the Apes, Roddy McDowall showed up in Gotham as the Bookworm in today’s episode, The Bookworm Turns.
