SuperMansion S:01 E:02

Episode Title: They Shoot Omega Pets, Don’t They?
Original Airdate: 10-8-15

I wouldn’t say this show is out to teach us a lesson like most animated shows, but that doesn’t mean you can’t learn something from it. This episode could teach you to keep in contact with the people who are important to you because time passes quickly. Or you could learn about the difficulties that can accompany pet ownership. This episode contains many references to movies starting with the title and hitting movies of all kinds like: Aliens, Gremlins, Seabiscuit, Ratatouille, and Babe. This episode is full of fun and nostalgic references, and continues the high quality of the pilot episode.

31 Days of Tales From the Crypt S:05 E:03

Good morning mutants and mutettes! Cryptkeeper Bubbawheat back yet again to introduce the episode for day 9 of our 31 Days of Tales From the Crypt. Today’s guest goes by the name Table 9 Mutant which is appropriate that she chose day 9. She spends some of her free time writing on movies, as well as randomly amusing lists and statistics over at her site Cinema Parrot Disco. And in case you’re wondering, it’s not likely that you’ll figure out those references that easily if you don’t already know them. The episode she has chosen is Forever Ambergris from one of my recommendations. I hadn’t watched it in a while, but remember it being one of the better ones as well as being rather gruesome and co-starring Steve Buscemi. So here’s the mutant’s take on Forever Ambergris.

SuperMansion S01 Ep01

Episode Title: Groaner’s Wild
Original Airdate: 10-8-15

Crackle’s first animated stop motion show premiered October 8th with its first three episodes. It then will become weekly for 10 weeks ending December 17th. This is not a show for the easily offended among us. It will make jokes about race, gender, age, weight and religion and do them very well. After watching the first episode I couldn’t wait to see more, the jokes came quickly and nonstop which lends itself to repeat viewing. In a world of superhero teams and their origins, Supermansion instead follows a well-established team and its senior citizen leader Titanium Rex (Bryan Cranston).

Arrow S:04 Ep:01

Episode Title: Green Arrow
Original Airdate: 10-8-15

After some ups and downs last season with the whole Olicity and Ra’s al Ghul drama, the season premiere of Arrow had me feeling a lot more optimistic about the direction of Season 4. Even if the ultimate outlook won’t be so cheery for one of the main characters to see Season 5.

There was a lot of intriguing aspects to this week’s kickoff, not the least of which was that Hal Jordan reference at a Coast City bar flashback. Oliver isn’t interested in returning to Starling City since he doesn’t feel whole from his time on the island. Amanda Waller wants to use him as her weapon and forcibly sends him back to the island for a mission. I’m torn as to whether returning to the island is a positive thing, but I’ll let it play out.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer S:02 Ep:08

Episode title: The Dark Age

Original air date: November 10, 1997

“Ooo, gang, did you hear that? A bonus day of class plus Cordelia, mix in a little rectal surgery and it’s my best day ever.” – Xander

If like myself you’ve been hankering for the return of Giles former best friend Ethan Rayne since he made his first appearance in “Halloween” your no doubt be delighted that the chaos worshiping trickster is back this week, as he’s forced like Giles to deal with an event from their past. The bad news though is that this is possibly one of the more lacklustre episodes to date but atleast Ethan’s back and that’s a good thing….right?

31 Days of Tales From the Crypt S:07 E:13

Welcome back dearies, Cryptkeeper Bubbawheat here to introduce yet another writer for our 31 Days of Tales From the Crypt. Today’s ghost blogger is Daniel Lackey from The Nightmare Gallery where he takes a look at all sorts of movies with a bit of an extra edge towards horror. He takes a look at the very last episode which I have yet to watch myself, though I do plan on catching it before the end of this month, it’s the only animated episode even though there was an animated spin-off series called Tales From the Cryptkeeper that started just a few years earlier, so let’s take a look at Daniel’s thoughts on the Third Pig.

The Flash S:02 E:01

Episode Title: The Man Who Saved Central City
Original Airdate: 10-6-15

The Flash is back, and after a couple episodes of watching Gotham, I’m very glad to have this show back. This is the type of show that knows how to balance the fun of being a superhero who runs really really really fast with the serious dramatic moments of losing your friend, your husband, your father, and it manages to make you care about both of those moments. The season finale introduced the concept of different universes, and this episode gave up a little bit more information without dwelling on the exact nature of what’s going on just yet. There were plenty of great moments in this episode, and a couple of shocking ones, and I can’t wait to see where this season goes.

Episode Title: Grumpy Old Liv
Original Airdate: 10/6/15

Liv Moore is back for more brain-snacking fun and I’ll be taking over the recaps this season, because apparently I can’t get enough of the undead. I really enjoyed the first season, though it was a bit rocky at first, at least from the case-of-the-week angle, but quickly found its stride all around and went out with a bang (literally) by the finale. So I’m very psyched to see what Mr. Thomas has in store for the show this season. Let’s begin…

31 Days of Tales From the Crypt S:04 E:06

Good morning creepies! Cryptkeeper Bubbawheat here yet again to bring you another daily gore-y from our ghost bloggers and we’re already into our seventh day of this scare-fest. So let’s welcome Andrew Wickliffe from his site The Stop Button where he usually looks at movies from a less horrific persuasion, but rather films old, new, and really really old. Today he is looking at an episode that I rather enjoyed, though I may have been swayed by my enjoyment of seeing a role from Christopher Reeve that wasn’t Superman. So let’s sit back and take a look at what he has to say about What’s Cookin’.

Gotham S:02 E:03

Episode Title: The Last Laugh
Original Airdate: 10-6-15

I’m still neck deep in my love/hate relationship with Gotham even as we round the corner past the first mini-arc of season two. For every character that I love, there’s a character that I equally hate. For every scene that I love, there’s a scene that just rubs me the wrong way. And even in an episode that I really enjoyed overall, there were still a handful of scenes and moments that made me want to shake my head in annoyment. I was honestly on the edge of rage-quitting this show last episode based on all the headway they were making with baby Joker, then I watch this episode and I enjoy almost everything about it. Again, except for the direction that they’re still going with the Joker. It just keeps me hanging on by a thread week after week, though if the ratings continue in their direction this show won’t be around for a third season.
