Episode Title: A Piece of the Action
Original Airdate: March 1, 1967

On today’s episode of Batman we journey into the realm of the crossover episode. That’s where characters from another popular program show up for a little fun. It’s like Gary Coleman showing up as Arnold Jackson on The Facts of Life, or Laverne and Shirley dropping by to visit the Fonze on Happy Days. Well, in this case, we get the main characters from William Dozier’s other late 60’s superhero series, The Green Hornet. That means guest appearances by Van Williams as well as perhaps the most famous (globally speaking) guest star to ever appear on the show, Bruce Lee. Get ready for A Piece of the Action. Continue reading Batman S:02 E:51

Episode Title: The Pluto File
Original Airdate: December 25, 1976

There are certain actors that are well known for playing villains. There’s just a certain quality that makes them particularly suited to that type of role. Now, maybe it’s just me, but if I were a casting director, my first instinct for casting a bad guy would probably not be to go for an actor who is most famous for playing one of TV’s most famous sitcom dads. Then again, actors pride themselves on versatility. Forget about The Brady Bunch for a while, because this episode gives us Robert Reed (Mike Brady himself) as a sinister agent working for the Nazis in The Pluto File. Episode Title: Wheel of Misfortune
Original Airdate: November 1, 1993

We’ve seen a bunch of ridiculous villains on this series so far, but this week we’ve got something pretty wacky. Eye creatures…I get, evil frogs…to be expected, but today’s monster is like some sort of cross between a kaiju film and an episode of Antiques Roadshow. Let’s see what happens in today’s episode, Wheel of Misfortune. Continue reading Mighty Morphin Power Rangers S:01 E:27

When we last left Gotham City, Batman and Robin were tied up in a giant coffee cup about to be scalded by sulfuric acid contained in an equally giant coffee pot. Episode Title: Wonder Woman vs. Gargantua
Original Airdate: December 18, 1976

If King Kong taught us anything it’s that gorillas are drawn to beautiful women! So what better way for the Nazis to try and finally get rid of Wonder Woman, than to train a gorilla to attack her! No we’re not getting an appearance by Gorilla Grodd…dream on DC fanboys. It’s an ultimate case of beauty against beast in Wonder Woman vs. Gargantua. Continue reading Wonder Woman S:01 E:06

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers S:01 E:26

Our recent Power Rangers episodes haven’t really been the let’s-teach-the-kids-a-lessons sort. Well, that ends today. It seems that two of the Power Rangers need to learn a lesson about teamwork. Haven’t we done that one a few times already? Ah, but not in Chinese! This time Tommy and Jason need to stop competing with each other and learn to work together…in other words, Gung Ho! Continue reading Mighty Morphin Power Rangers S:01 E:26

Episode Title: Catwoman Goes to College
Original Airdate: February 22, 1967

Well, you know what they say, all good things must come to an end. No, not this series! We still have a third season on the horizon. However, our next story does represent an important moment in the history of this series…the last appearance of one its stars. Julie Newmar has played the role of Catwoman since the character debuted in season one. She was unable to make an appearance in the feature film that was released between seasons one and two (Lee Meriwether took over for that one) but otherwise it’s been all Newmar. Though Catwoman will be back in season three, Newmar won’t. So, let’s begin her Batman swan song with today’s episode, Catwoman goes to College. Continue reading Batman S:02 E:49

Wonder Woman S:01 E:05

Today’s episode of Wonder Woman is a Part II. In the 70’s, TV episodes that were “the exciting conclusion” often began with a recap of the previous week’s episode. You can read last week’s post, so I’m not going to do that, other than to say that Diana’s sister Drusilla (Debra Winger), aka Wonder Girl, has been captured by some Nazis and Diana doesn’t know where on earth she is. Let’s find out what happens in The Feminum Mystique Part 2. Continue reading Wonder Woman S:01 E:05
