Episode Title: Shiva
Original Airdate: 5-22-16

After copy-catting a huge plotline from TWD’s second season, FTWD had a lot to make up for in this mid-season finale. After discovering that Strand killed a dying Abigail, housekeeper Celia tells him he and the others have a day to pack up and leave. Nick goes back to the boat to fetch a turned Luis and bring him back to his mother to soften her on the eviction. She decides everyone can stay, except Strand, as long as they accept her ways. Madison tells Celia she wants to understand, so Celia leads her to the wine cellar full of Infected. While Celia monologues about her religious beliefs, Madison locks her in the cellar and walks away.

Arrow S:04 Ep:22

Episode Title: Lost in the Flood

Original Air Date: May 18, 2016

You’d be forgiven for assuming Lost in the Flood was a reference to HIVE’s plan to wipe out the planet with their scorched Earth plan. In actuality, the flood was referring to the numerous tears of the Smoak ladies.

Yes, somehow Arrow managed to make its penultimate episode mostly about Felicity and her time-killing family issues. With Curtis along to fanboy out over watching it all unfold. I almost feel like Curtis’ squeal of excitement is the response the writers envision as they crank out these overbearing Felicity scenes. Continue reading Arrow S:04 Ep:22

Buffy The Vampire Slayer S:03 Ep:16

Episode Title: Dopplegangland

Original Air Date: February 23, 1999

“Old reliable? Yeah, great! Here’s a sexy nickname.” – Willow

Another of Joss Wheldon’s favourite episodes as this week we see the return of Vampire Willow a a character he seemingly liked so much that he wrote the episode specifically to bring her character back with Anya still attempting to regain her powers after being made mortal following the events of “The Wish”. Now she hits upon the idea of pulling the destroyed necklace which was the source of her power from an alternative dimension recruiting Willow to help her perform the spell. However when Willow screws up the ritual the Vampire Willow is instead pulled into their dimension.

Batman S:02 E:05

Episode Title: The Minstrel’s Shakedown
Original Airdate: September 21, 1966

Throughout its three season run, there were some pretty big stars that showed up on Batman as villains. In our episode today, one time matinee idol Van Johnson shows up as a villain original to the series, the Minstrel. Sadly, not all guest villains resonated with the show’s audience, so these next two episodes mark the only appearance of this villain. Let’s jump in with part one of the story, The Minstrel’s Shakedown. Continue reading Batman S:02 E:05

Episode Title: 7 Minutes in Heaven
Originally Aired:March 18th 2016

The moments in this episode that give it its title go about as well as the popular game does for most teenagers. 7 minutes of nearly real time action will change the course of the remainder of the season in the most brutal fashion the show has ever seen. With Wilson Fisk making his return and quickly climbing the prison power rankings until he is once again the kingpin albeit a much smaller criminal word this time, but he is using this world to influence the next. Episode Title: Consequences

Original Air Date: February 16, 1999

“But, see, it’s that exact thing that-that’s just ticking me off! It’s this whole ‘Slayers only’ attitude. I mean, since when wouldn’t I understand? You, you talk to me about everything. I-it’s like all of a sudden I-I’m not cool enough for you because I can’t kill things with my bare hands.” – Willow

So regular readers of this column might have noticed that there was no review last Thursday and seeing how ho- hum this week’s episode is I wouldn’t have blamed you for thinking I’d tossed in the towel and headed to the woods to live with the squirrels. Still it’s time to bite the bullet and get this one out of the way.

Picking up after the events of the previous episode with Buffy still wrecked with guilt over her part in the accidently slaying of the mayor’s aide while Faith continues to show little remorse for her actions. Meanwhile the police start to investigate his murder after Faith’s plans to dispose of his body fall though.
