Episode Title: Come Back, Shame
Original Airdate: November 30, 1966

Perhaps one of the most significant characters in the history of the Spider-Man comics is one who didn’t live to see Peter Parker become his superhero alter ego…Peter’s Uncle Ben. Actor Cliff Robertson turned in a memorable performance as Ben in Sam Raimi’s series of Spidey films. It turns out, though, that Robertson has spent time alongside DC characters as well as Marvel. In today’s episode of Batman he appears as the villainous cowboy Shame in Come Back, Shame! Continue reading Batman S:02 E:25

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers – Introduction

I’ve always had a huge interest in movies and TV shows that are aimed at kids. I was that weird guy who would sit in his college dorm room watching afternoon cartoons on UHF channels. But even for a self-described man-child, there are times in life where you have to be an adult. The fall of 1993 was one of those times for me. I was at the point where I was getting ready for big life changes like career, marriage, and moving across the country. So, needless to say, I wasn’t exactly in the right frame of mind to enjoy what was the biggest new kids program in the country at that time…a strange little superhero show called Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers. Besides, the thing looked really cheesy and dumb. Continue reading Mighty Morphin Power Rangers – Introduction

Episode Titles: Marsha, Queen of Diamonds
Original Airdate: November 23, 1966

Growing up in the 70’s and 80’s was pretty awesome. As a kid, not only did I get to experience all the great pop culture offerings of those decades, but thanks to UHF channels that filled their schedules with reruns I also became an expert on the TV of the decades the preceded. That’s how I discovered the Batman series, as well as so many other greats. Stuff like The Monkees, I Dream of Jeanie, Gilligan’s Island, The Munsters, and The Addams Family. Speaking of the Addams’, this week our episode of Batman brings us one of the stars of that series. Morticia herself, Carolyn Jones, stars as the titular villainess in Marsha, Queen of Diamonds. Continue reading Batman S:02 E:23

Episode Title: The Impractical Joker
Original Airdate: November 16, 1966

Sometimes I really wonder about the incarceration system in Gotham City. Batman and Robin are quite skilled at capturing the criminals, but somehow they keep on getting back out on the street. It’s not like any of them end up rehabilitated either. They all go back to their criminal ways. So, even though he’s been captured many times before, the Joker (Cesar Romero) returns this week in our episode, The Impractical Joker. Continue reading Batman S:01 E:21
