Episode Title: The Puzzles are Coming

Of all the guest villains who appeared in the first season of Batman, the highlight for me was Frank Gorshin’s Riddler. He was clearly a highlight for others as well. Gorshin appeared on the show more than any other guest in the first season and he was nominated for an Emmy. But when season 2 of the show rolled around, Gorshin was unavailable due to his Vegas show. So Batman’s producers had to come up with a plan B. That included reworking a script written for the Riddler and inserting a new villain. So, enter Maurice Evans (Dr. Zaius himself) as the Puzzler in The Puzzles are Coming. I’m sure everybody has those dreams that seem very real at the time, then you wake up and realize it was all just in your head. I remember having a dream like that when I was in high school. See, I was an awkward teenager who really really just wanted to have a girlfriend. One night I had a dream where I had a girlfriend. All I really remember about the dream is waking up and being really bummed that it was just a dream, and that the dream girl who actually saw fit to date me was deaf.
