Gotham S:02 E:12

Episode Title: Mr. Freeze
Original Airdate: 2-29-16

It seems like it’s been a long time, but Gotham is finally back and has transitioned from the Rise of the Villains to the Wrath of the Villains starting with our good old friend Mr. Freeze. It also answers the age old question of how you properly pronounce his last name. While I’ve notoriously had my ups and downs with this show, it ended with last year’s midseason on a rather high note. But at the same time, I really had my doubts with how they were going to handle the rather large shoes to fill for someone who is honestly a variation of Flash and Legends of Tomorrow’s Captain Cold, with more tragedy and less humor. But I will say that for now I’m still on board. I just wish we had a little more time with Leslie Thompkins who I saw a whole lot more of last month in Deadpool, but I’ll just leave that over there for now.

Episode Title: Knots Untie
Original Airdate: 2-28-16

Things cooled off a little this week, but the Group’s world has now opened up to many more possibilities. After letting Rick and Michonne put some clothes on in private, Jesus tells them he is a scout for his community. He looks for other survivor camps with which to potentially open a trade of goods. Rick, Michonne, Maggie, Glenn, Daryl and Abraham agree to take Jesus home and discuss trading options with his leader. On the way, they save several members from Jesus’s group after a car accident, including a doctor who was an OB before the apocalypse, lucky for Maggie and Glenn.

The Flash S:02 E:15

Episode Title: King Shark
Original Airdate: 2-23-16

After last week’s doozy of an Earth 2 escape, this week the Flash and co. have to deal with all the repercussions of what they’ve gone through, what’s been lost, and what’s been left behind. And it just so happens that the thing that has been left behind is a giant killer man-shark, and they toss in Diggle for good measure just because. And of course, there’s the big reveal at the end where we finally find out who Zoom is, or at least what he looks like which raises a few more questions than answers at the moment.

Episode Title: White Knights
Original Airdate: 2-11-16

I’m still running behind on my Legends of Tomorrow coverage, but I’m working towards catching up (while starting to fall behind on the Flash, but I’ll be watching that next and it’s taking a month off) As tonight’s episode airs, I go back in time two weeks to watch the team come ever closer together while simultaneously tearing itself apart. And even though I still really enjoy the show for all of its great moments of humor, the more dramatic moments are starting to wear a little thin on me and don’t feel quite so serious as they do elsewhere. Not enough to completely throw me off of the show, but I did catch a bit of an eye roll here and there on this episode.

Episode Title: Band Candy

Original Air Date: November 10, 1998

“I don’t get this. The candy’s supposed to make you all immature and stuff, but I ate a ton and I don’t feel any dif – never mind.” – Xander

So after the disappointing “Homecoming” this week things are much back on track with the return of the chaos loving Ethan Rayne who this time has been hired by Mr. Trick to create a distraction so that he can carry out a tribute with the mayor to the demon Lurconis. At the same time Buffy her fellow students at Sunnydale High have been tasked with selling chocolate bars to raise money for new marching band uniforms, unaware that the chocolate has been supplied by Rayne which causes adults to act like teenagers.

Agent Carter S:02 E:08 and 09

Episode Title: Episode 8 The Edge Of Mystery Episode 9: A Little Song and Dance
Originally Aired: February 23rd 2016

Agent Carter is the best comic book show that “no one” is watching, this could be due to the fact that it is only superhero adjacent instead of focused on them like the more popular shows. It could be a result of an average first season. Whatever the reason someone has for not watching season 2 it is really unfortunate, even on a night when they didn’t put their best foot forward Agent Carter is still performing well above average this year.

iZombie S2

Episode Title: Eternal Sunshine of the Caffeinated Mind
Original Airdate: 2-23-16

This week we met the peppier side of our zombie heroine, after she ate the smashed brains of the owner of a local coffee shop. The victim stepped outside to admire some sidewalk art and got an air conditioner window unit dropped on her noggin. Ouch. It was a pretty standard case with an ex-lover running the rival coffee shop across the street, a thieving employee and a stingy daughter. The thing that did surprise me about the case was that they actually solved it, but the mastermind still got away while someone else took the fall. Usually Liv and Clive get their man (or woman) in the end. Sadly I wasn’t really down with Liv’s secondhand optimism acquired through her brainscotti. She spent most of the episode being obnoxiously positive, but it served no purpose. Though she straightened up by the end when she finally discovered that Gilda is Rita and Rita is Gilda (thanks to a perfectly timed visit from Major who is also now privy to this info) and then punched her in the face, before evicting her. Finally! It was a very satisfying sight to see.

Episode Title: The Next World
Original Airdate: 2-21-16

A very different kind of episode this week picks up two months after the mid-season premiere (according to Danai Gurira on The Talking Dead), as Alexandria has picked itself back up and continues to move forward. Rick and Daryl head out on a supply run, because food and other essentials are becoming scarce. They find a truck already loaded with lots of goodies, but it is soon stolen by Jesus. That’s right, Jesus literally takes the wheel here (thanks, Twitter!).

Episode Title: Blood Ties
Original Airdate: 2-4-16

Apologies for running behind on coverage for this show, I assure you that it has nothing to do with how much or how little I enjoy the show because I have been having a lot of fun with it. While the two-part pilot suffered a little bit from pilot-itis, it has a strong premise, great characters, and great moments of action. This is the first episode where the team really starts to gel together after their single unifying moment at the end of the pilot and gets a lot more out in the open than I might have expected.
