Gotham S:02 E:12

Episode Title: Mr. Freeze
Original Airdate: 2-29-16

It seems like it’s been a long time, but Gotham is finally back and has transitioned from the Rise of the Villains to the Wrath of the Villains starting with our good old friend Mr. Freeze. It also answers the age old question of how you properly pronounce his last name. While I’ve notoriously had my ups and downs with this show, it ended with last year’s midseason on a rather high note. But at the same time, I really had my doubts with how they were going to handle the rather large shoes to fill for someone who is honestly a variation of Flash and Legends of Tomorrow’s Captain Cold, with more tragedy and less humor. But I will say that for now I’m still on board. I just wish we had a little more time with Leslie Thompkins who I saw a whole lot more of last month in Deadpool, but I’ll just leave that over there for now.

The Flash S:02 E:15

Episode Title: King Shark
Original Airdate: 2-23-16

After last week’s doozy of an Earth 2 escape, this week the Flash and co. have to deal with all the repercussions of what they’ve gone through, what’s been lost, and what’s been left behind. And it just so happens that the thing that has been left behind is a giant killer man-shark, and they toss in Diggle for good measure just because. And of course, there’s the big reveal at the end where we finally find out who Zoom is, or at least what he looks like which raises a few more questions than answers at the moment.

Legends of Tomorrow S:01 E:04

Episode Title: White Knights
Original Airdate: 2-11-16

I’m still running behind on my Legends of Tomorrow coverage, but I’m working towards catching up (while starting to fall behind on the Flash, but I’ll be watching that next and it’s taking a month off) As tonight’s episode airs, I go back in time two weeks to watch the team come ever closer together while simultaneously tearing itself apart. And even though I still really enjoy the show for all of its great moments of humor, the more dramatic moments are starting to wear a little thin on me and don’t feel quite so serious as they do elsewhere. Not enough to completely throw me off of the show, but I did catch a bit of an eye roll here and there on this episode.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer S:03 Ep:6

Episode Title: Band Candy

Original Air Date: November 10, 1998

“I don’t get this. The candy’s supposed to make you all immature and stuff, but I ate a ton and I don’t feel any dif – never mind.” – Xander

So after the disappointing “Homecoming” this week things are much back on track with the return of the chaos loving Ethan Rayne who this time has been hired by Mr. Trick to create a distraction so that he can carry out a tribute with the mayor to the demon Lurconis. At the same time Buffy her fellow students at Sunnydale High have been tasked with selling chocolate bars to raise money for new marching band uniforms, unaware that the chocolate has been supplied by Rayne which causes adults to act like teenagers.

Agent Carter S:02 E:08 and 09

Episode Title: Episode 8 The Edge Of Mystery Episode 9: A Little Song and Dance
Originally Aired: February 23rd 2016

Agent Carter is the best comic book show that “no one” is watching, this could be due to the fact that it is only superhero adjacent instead of focused on them like the more popular shows. It could be a result of an average first season. Whatever the reason someone has for not watching season 2 it is really unfortunate, even on a night when they didn’t put their best foot forward Agent Carter is still performing well above average this year.

Legends of Tomorrow S:01 E:03

Episode Title: Blood Ties
Original Airdate: 2-4-16

Apologies for running behind on coverage for this show, I assure you that it has nothing to do with how much or how little I enjoy the show because I have been having a lot of fun with it. While the two-part pilot suffered a little bit from pilot-itis, it has a strong premise, great characters, and great moments of action. This is the first episode where the team really starts to gel together after their single unifying moment at the end of the pilot and gets a lot more out in the open than I might have expected.

The Flash S:02 E:14

Episode Title: Escape From Earth 2
Original Airdate: 2-16-16

After last week’s cliffhanger with Barry captured by Zoom and quite possibly stuck on Earth 2 forever (though we all knew that was not really a possibility) this week’s episode finally ties all those loose threads up while creating a whole bucket of new ones. Who was the man in the iron mask? What happened to Jay Garrick? What happened/will happen to Killer Frost? But it still brought together one hell of an episode and while we may have lost one member of the Star labs team, we gained a new one.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer S:03 Ep:5

Episode Title: Homecoming

Original Air Date: November 3, 1998

“I thought, Homecoming Queen, I could open a yearbook someday and say, ‘I was there, I went to high school and had friends and for just one minute I got to live in the world.’ And there’d be proof. Proof I was chosen for something other than this. Besides, I look cute in a tiara.” – Buffy

It’s another mixed bag this week as well as an episode which I remember enjoying more the first time than I did for this most recent rewatch. At the same time its hard to fault its importance on the series as with Homecoming approaching Buffy and Cordelia soon find themselves on a collision course as they both battle to be prom queen. Meanwhile Mr. Trick plans to take out both Buffy and Faith by holding the competition “SlayerFest ‘98” were the competitors get to hunt the slayers for sport.

Agent Carter S:02 E:06 and E:07

Episode Titles: Episode 6: Life of the Party Episode 7: Monsters
Originally Aired: February 16th 2016

Last night’s episodes of Agent Carter were a major turning point for the season. If this was a movie it would be the end of the second act where our heroes have sustained losses or been beaten back and need to regroup for a final assault on the bad guys. There are only 3 episodes left this season, another 2 hour event next week followed by the season and potentially series finale.
