The Flash S:02 E:06

Episode Title: Enter Zoom
Original Airdate: 11-10-15

Wow, this show goes from 0-60 pretty damn quick. Ever since the beginning of season one, this show has hit all the high marks in many different ways, especially with the ways that it rarely relies on the villains of the week. There’s usually another purpose to them, something that relates to the larger story at hand, or they will come back to play a role in another episode sooner or later. This episode is the Flash firing on all cylinders, it has some of the most hilarious scenes, it has some great heart-to-heart between Barry and Joe, and it has some balls out action between Flash and our first look at Zoom, and boy is it a doozy.

Episode Title: The Darkness and the Light
Original Airdate: 11-3-15

So five episodes in and we finally get the full return of Tom Cavanagh as Earth 2’s Harrison Wells, and while it’s likely that he’s not evil he is apparently a huge jerk, to put it in polite terms. The Flash is always a fun show, but this was one of the funniest episodes in recent memory. It went a little dark a couple times and brought in the drama, but it also had some great gags with Barry’s literal blind date as well as everybody having to come to terms with the new Wells.

Episode Title: The Fury of the Firestorm
Original Airdate: 10-27-15

And I’m back on track, with the Flash anyway as it is still my favorite of the superhero shows that I’m currently watching. This episode is all about second chances and even though I’ve said this before when discussing season one, I still love how this show reminds me so much about Buffy: The Vampire Slayer in how each episode isn’t just about the villain of the week, but it also manages to have a specific subtext to it that applies to some real life issue. But the main thrust of this episode it twofold: it introduces the new second half of Firestorm who will be a part of Legends of Tomorrow, and it re-introduces the alternate Harrison Wells.

Episode Title: Family of Rogues
Original Airdate: 10-21-15

This episode brings in a few old characters along with a couple new ones that are actually both blasts from the past in more ways than one. It seems like every other time Snart returns he brings another member of his family along with him and this time is no different. And on the other side of things, we finally find out what happened to Iris’s mother. And as a brief side-note, for anyone who may have been expecting this post a lot sooner, I apologize for being late. Life tends to get in the way but I am in the process of catching up on all of my shows as soon as I’m able to.

Episode Title: Flash of Two Worlds
Original Airdate: 10-12-15

The Flash is back once again and partly as I suspected, Jay Garrick is starting to assume the role of substitute Harrison Wells complete with Barry’s lack of trust from being burned once before. This episode is really all about learning to trust again, all of the characters have suffered through some sort of betrayal in one form or another and this time around things are different, but there are enough doubts that instead of embracing the trust from the start, that trust now has to be earned in more ways than one.

Episode Title: The Man Who Saved Central City
Original Airdate: 10-6-15

The Flash is back, and after a couple episodes of watching Gotham, I’m very glad to have this show back. This is the type of show that knows how to balance the fun of being a superhero who runs really really really fast with the serious dramatic moments of losing your friend, your husband, your father, and it manages to make you care about both of those moments. The season finale introduced the concept of different universes, and this episode gave up a little bit more information without dwelling on the exact nature of what’s going on just yet. There were plenty of great moments in this episode, and a couple of shocking ones, and I can’t wait to see where this season goes.
