We begin the third, and final, season of Batman with some big changes, while other things stay the same. We have a classic villain, the Penguin (Burgess Meredith), up to his old tricks. While that may be business as usual, we also have the arrival of a new hero in Gotham. Yvonne Craig makes her debut as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl in Enter Batgirl, Exit Penguin. You know, after saving Angel Grove from giant monster attacks almost 40 times, it’s high time those good-for-nothing citizens showed the Power Rangers a little appreciation. Well, that’s just what they set out to do in this week’s episode. Of course, Rita can’t pass up this opportunity to cause some trouble. Here comes the first in a two-part adventure, Doomsday part 1. Batman: Season Two Recap

Well, we’ve made it to the end of Batman season two. It’s hard to believe, actually. I mean, with 60 episodes to cover, we’ve been in this season for over a year! It was a season full of familiar faces, a hearty helping of new villains, and a few weak moments for the series, too. So, before we move on to season three, let’s take a quick look back. Continue reading Batman: Season Two Recap

Episode Title: A Bad Reflection on You
Original Airdate: November 27, 1993

Remember that episode of Star Trek where the crew of the Enterprise end up meeting evil versions of themselves from another dimension due to a transporter malfunction? It’s the one where Spock has a beard…because beard = evil. Well in today’s episode of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Rita decides that the way to beat those pesky teens is with a batch of evil twins. Here comes A Bad Reflection on You. Continue reading Mighty Morphin Power Rangers S:01 E:38

Episode Title: Clean-Up Club
Original Airdate: November 23, 1993

Batman S:02 E:59

Episode Title: Ice Spy
Original Airdate: March 29, 1967

Most of the guest villains on Batman were played by a single actor throughout the series’ entire run. Cesar Romero was the only Joker, Burgess Meredith the only Penguin, and so on. When it comes to Mr. Freeze, though, the character appeared in three stories and each time was played by a different actor. We first met him in season one as played by George Sanders, then earlier this season we saw him played by Otto Preminger, but now we get to the version of Freeze I’ve been most looking forward to. The one and only Eli Wallach comes to Gotham to begin the conclusion of season two in Ice Spy. Continue reading Batman S:02 E:59

Episode Title: Birds of a Feather
Original Airdate: November 22, 1993

Well, things are different now in Angel Grove. The poor citizens who have to deal with the constant giant monster attacks are now one superhero short. At the end of our last episode, Tommy (the green ranger) lost his powers, though he did score a date with Kimberly.  What a trade off…you loose your superpowers, but you get to lock lips with Kimberly.  There’s probably a bunch of guys who were 10 years old in 1993 that would’ve taken that trade.  Anyhow, will the team suffer without him, though? We’ll find out in today’s episode, Birds of a Feather. Continue reading Mighty Morphin Power Rangers S:01 E:36

Adam West, 1928-2017

This week we were to begin our look at the final two-episode story of Batman season two. However, it didn’t seem right to just continue on business as usual after the passing of Batman himself, Adam West, this past Friday. The role of the Caped Crusader would define West’s career. He was one of the big reasons that this series has endured and holds such a special place in the hearts of fans of all ages. Continue reading Adam West, 1928-2017
